The King Is Dead, Long Live The King-Moyes Mullarky-FFP (long Read)

Once upon a time, before 'soshall' media and a plethora of online media outlets, managers were generally given a 12 match window in order to be judged, as were strikers. Go back even further to pre-premiership days and that window was even longer!

Football is a results driven game now, no longer is a 'beautiful on the eye' observation good enough to sustain a club and its manager among football's elite clubs unless they are being bank rolled by a Pariah state or owned by investment Cartels that have huge fiscal resources.

FFP will eventually sort out the divide, but not before the (sic) Gulf between football's haves and have nots is so vast that NO ONE will be able to break the 'glass ceiling'. Of course all fans hope for another 'Leicester Season', but that opportunity came, was taken and has now disappeared into 'jumpers for goal posts' mythology.

The fact is that 'mid range' clubs like West Ham, despite being listed among the 20 richest clubs in the World, are stuck between a rock and a hard place. FFP has actually just made it more difficult for them to challenge to 'big' clubs, whereas it was supposed to make it much easier.

Less than a couple of weeks ago the "Moyes out clamour", including on this site, was deafening, now it has gone a quiet as a metaphoric mouse! Instead of reading the sports section of the Mirror or the Sun, going up through the Mail or the Express, eventually reaching the Guardian, Telegraph and the Times demograph.

Fan's 'fix' was brief and expensive, even taking in to account the 'well passed on' copies during the day. Now you can even find out the colour of 'Doris the tea lady's' underwear first thing in the morning if you are so inclined!

The point is that every aspect of a club is viewed through a fine tooth comb on an hourly basis, sometimes every 5 minutes, so someone has to 'top trump' their opposing outlet on a never ending basis, its called progress.

In the dual edged reality of West Ham football club, it is sitting in 7th place and likely to progress to the 1/4 finals of the Europa League Cup, all very 'cushty'. However, a couple of defeats on the spin and good results for other teams will quickly see the Moyes out brigade in full force, add to that the almost inevitable exit from the Europa League and things could all go 'tis up' for David Moyes and David Sullivan, who has kept the faith with his under fire manager.

Even IF Hammers do make it to the final, EVERYBODY knows it will be against the 'Grinning German' and his erstwhile 'Scouser schemers', by the time of the final 'Saint Jurgen' will have acquired almost 'god like' status among the media 'Brown nosers' who have switched allegiance from the 'Red Devils', at least for this season and until they get their F! paddock passes from Jim Rat' cliff!

In an ideal world, Hammers would be able to bring in a new Middle East investor for megabucks while still retaining control of the club and Moyes would take his last Hurrah at Celtic. However we are talking about West Ham, the 'temptress' that thrills and disappoints in equal measure, supporting the club is a life sentence...."just like my dreams?"- Ed

In reality most West Ham fans i think accept that we are never going to be challenging for the league and the European adventures we have had have been a nice treat but we do not expect to see that season in season out........And despite every word every look coming out of the club(any club)is under the spotlight of social media and the younger fans lap it up and so the sites for football and football clubs grows to epidemic proportions and space filling scandal drama hearsay fill the pages and sifting through all that to try and find and make sense of it is a task for better men than me.
Todays world does make for sacrificial Lambs within weeks of a season starting but Now with the rise of FFP sanctions clubs are loathe to sack and have to payoff managers and there staff if they think they can get by so appeasing fans really is a secondary concern to a lot of owners nowadays......look at Everton Look at Manure Look at Chelski Look at ourselves......how many managers would still be in a job with the recent Displays answer is none but again FFP and know window until the summer why would any owner sack the man or any potential new manager want the job.

As for Moyes he won two matches woop e doop if decisions made on short term basis because of that then they are poor ones....at the end of the season is when the decision has to be made but it has to be made very quickly but then again this is Sullivan we are talking about here.

I'll say this. When we scored goals I used to be out of my seat cheering for all it's worth. We've scored seven goals in the last two wins and Souceks whomper apart, I didn't even flinch. Even Souceks goal merely raised a slight chuckle but nothing more. This is what Moyes has reduced me to. In fact I'm slightly disappointed we even won as I hoped it might expedite his removal continuing 2024 without a win.
Get shot, bring in Noble to see the season out ffs!

I actually think there's a large chunk of apathy in the air now. Long suffering fans like myself just accept this is how we are week in week out. Sometimes a dreadful losing streak, then we win a few, score a few.

Moyes will just continue to jog along. Getting loads of shit off the fans, then it goes quiet after a couple of wins. Only for it to start again when we lose.

Thursday will be a case in point. If we lose the fans will be at it again. I am just resigned to the end of the season. With the damp squib it will result in.

All these lunatics with there chat streams and so called ITK pontificating do my sweed in well and truly. You tube this, You tube that. Get off your arse and make an honest living. Stop sitting there talking bollocks - do me a favour FFS!!!
