Move For West Ham Supporting Newcastle Player Shelved

Hopes that West Ham United could persuade Rafa Benitez to sell them creative midfielder John Jo Shelvey have taken an almighty hit, the player who began his career with the Hammers as a youth player was part of the starting line up for Newcastle in their match against Stoke City. Shelvey's rare start seems to indicate Benitez has decided to 'bring him back to the fold', either that or the Toon manager is being canny knowing that Shelvey's value will increase if he is starting matches, West Ham are among a string of teams who would welcome the combative qualities the Romford born player brings to the table.

The only hope of 25 year old Shelvey joining up with David Moyes at the London Stadium rests with the intransigence of the take over of Newcastle from Mike Ashley by the consortium led by Amanda Stavely which is currently floundering, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez may be forced to free up cash by parting with a couple of players in order to strengthen his squad. Newcastle's away victory against fellow relegation strugglers Stoke City may have been a reprieve for Benitez whereas defeat for the Potters may well herald the departure of under fire manager Mark Hughes.

Missing out on John Jo Shelvey would not be a complete disaster as David Moyes has several other targets including Jack Wilshere from Arsenal, another Hammers fan! The thread appears to embrace the acquisition of players who have an affinity with West Ham, it's not rocket science but it's little details that can make all the difference. - Ed

I guess you left James Cordon out as he's not match fit?

You are both wrong - Sully is working behind the scenes on a transfer coup to sign West Ham super fan Queen Elizabeth II... shes lost a bit of pace over the years but wouldn't cost a penny and all her wages would be fronted by the tax payer... bargain

It's not gona happen but I wish this board would look to buy the right man just ONCE! So many times we go for someone who patches up the team for a couple of months and then we get stuck with a player on decent wages who's no longer up to it! And by that I don't just mean his age. So then we end up buying again and still having an inferior player on the books.
