West Ham United in the most recent days confirmed the signing of Manor Solomon from Tottenham Hotspur for a total £7m package. Nuno’s side were in dire need of a left winger after Keiber Lamadrid suffered an injury in pre-season, and Solomon proved to be the best value-for-money signing available.
In adition to Manor Solomon, West Ham have also taken a keen interest in Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson, the 26 year-old has only one year remaining on his contract and is set to leave Arsenal at the end of the 2026/27 campaign, the club would like to strike a deal on the cheap before the player is available on a free and he will be fighting Solomon for his place in the side.
Whilst both may be wingers and both might’ve played for North London clubs, the true significance they have in common… injuries!
Manor Solomon, who is 27 years old, has so far missed out on 888 days in his career due to injuries, and his soon-to-be counterpart, Reiss Nelson, has missed out on 596 days through injury! People used to say dumb and dumber, but now it’s numb and number!
Despite having Keiber Lamadrid, only at West Ham could the club sign his replacement with someone who was injury-prone… and then ensure that the injury-prone player has a backup with someone else who is also injury-prone - It’s good company at the medical centre I suppose.
The fee for Reiss Nelson is currently unknown, but it is assumed to be around £5-8m for the Englishman if the deal is completed, assuming that personal terms aren’t an impending issue.
