Anderson Says It All

To describe Felipe Anderson's loan spell at Porto as a disaster is an understatement, the once flamboyant Brazilian looked a shadow of his former self while in Portugal and returned to West Ham a 'chastened' player. The player has expressed a desire to return to his former club Lazio, the club sold Anderson to the Irons for £36 Million excluding add ons, they are now looking to re-sign him for just 15% of that fee, thus making a profit of around £30 Million.

Most Hammers fans want David Moyes to give Anderson one last chance to rekindle his once superb skills, they argue that it is better to keep a player who, on a good day, can unlock other team's defences with the drop of a shoulder and a quick shimmy. It is thought that Hammers baulked at Lazio's low ball offer, and would rather keep him until his contract expires rather than handing him back to Lazio on a plate for virtually next to nothing compared with his original purchase price.

Anderson is on £85,000 per week, NOT the £105,000 per week that has been regularly misreported by the tabloids, as such it isn't a massive hit to keep him, and if he can impress Moyes with hard work and application he may well find himself back in contention.

Possibly to further that cause, Anderson 'opened his heart out' to the top football site in Brazil www.meutimao.com where he said, roughly translated, "During my time with Porto I saw my West Ham team mates on the TV, playing with energy and passion, I said to myself if only I can get another opportunity I will copy their example and run until I drop, I just didn't realise that if ALL of a team shows total commitment, the total always far outweighs the sum!"

Fine words, but can he walk the walk instead of just talking the talk? Letting him go back to Lazio would seem the last resort, because somewhere in there is a really talented footballer who has lost his way, and if anyone can help him rediscover his form it is David Moyes, assisted by his superb support team.

Give 'short shorts' a chance Moysie, you never know, he might just surprise you, after all, Anderson would have to be totally stupid to not recognise he is in the last chance saloon! - Ed

I have criticised Felipe on many occasions, like most of us and I have given up on many a player at this club...and Felipe is no different.
But, we have ALL let ourselves down at some point in our lives by not putting in the required effort or application at times, and some of my biggest comebacks in life have followed occasions like this.
I do not doubt that Moyes will probably give Felipe a second chance as they will have to have a sit-down. Felipe has always seemed to me to be the down to earth, sensitive guy who doesn't have that natural arrogance that most footballers have and probably need.
IF he comes back recharged and now understands what he didn't understand for whatever reason before, then we will have a game-changer on our hands.
I'll never say never as this season more than any other, has taught me that players are capable of great turnarounds in form, under the right manager.....
I will be watching this one with interest.

You looking for a present from a certain girl? lol.....you cannot doubt the players talent but his attitude stank and i cannot envisage Moyes giving him a chance he just is not a player Moyes likes....but i do agree we should not sell him back to Lazio for a pittance keep him if thats the case but would he be used? like i just mentioned i dont think Moyes would.

You don't become a crap player overnight. Anderson is a talent. I said towards the end of last season, if he sits down with Moyes and Moyes spells it out in words of one syllable what he demands. I'm fairly confident Anderson will take up the challenge. We must have looked unrecognisable to him. As the West Ham he left behind are nowhere near who we have become.

I believe in this kid, he is no Le Merde. If he comes back reborn with the team work ethic it can only make us stronger....

Seriously gang it seems we are of the same opinion. If he was performing out of his skin at the Euros, (lets pretend he's not Brazilian). There would be a queue (socially distanced of course) a mile long to sign him. We have that fee, bought & paid for - lets see it work for us.....In Moyes we trust!!

I can see it now,

Moyes "Oi Phil, over here Jimmy!! Now see you, if you don't start workin for me Pal. I'll kick your Brazilian arse all the way to Tottenham Hale!! Ye get me? Now on yer way and do the bizzo"!!!!

In my opinion it is Moyes who sowed the seeds of destroying Anderson's confidence. And he isn't the only player who has crumbled under his leadership. I reckon Benrahma will be the next to crash.

Moyes gave Haller various opportunities to impress and prove himself. However, although he tried to put in a shift, his body energy and stamina was not designed to cover much of the pitch with any reasonable pace and so he was eventually unloaded. Why not give Anderson such chances as he has more pace but needs to commit himself. He has the skill but seems to lose that last magic touch and annoyingly gives the ball away quite cheaply. Moyes needs to change all that in his training.

Well the latest "rumour" has him joining Lazio for free. Apparently, there is a 50% sell on clause that West Ham are hoping to redeem from Lazio when he is ultimately off loaded by them.

Endeavour.
Ship him out, he doesn’t want to be anywhere else but Lazio.

Simple question: Who would you rather have Anderson or Damsgaard (if he were on our radar and available)?
