Can’t Pay, We’ll Take It Away - West Ham Demanding Pay

Submitted by Akira Andersson on Sat, 28/03/2026 - 07:50

West Ham United fans have been subjected to many of the London Stadium’s doom and gloom factors across the ten year span of the Hammers playing football there, but glooming factors might’ve reached a new low after West Ham’s fan group’s recent meeting details were released publicly.

Upon being asked how to make improvements to the Stadium’s atmosphere, which was specifically asked by the board, it came to fruition that standing/railed seating would be a viable option, given that the majority of Premier League clubs now have these facilities installed.

In response to this idea, our clubs’ spokesperson for the fans was informed that it would be ‘extremely expensive’ and that there are ‘currently no plans to install it’. Though it was added, UNLESS the supporters pay for it via higher ticket prices! Unfathomable greed is being shown. The board refuse to pay out of their own pockets to improve a stadium that they’re practically paying peanuts for, and suggesting that the fans would have to pay for it is beyond audacious.

Not to mention, may it be remembered that of the £38,000,000 accumulated from the sale of Upton Park, only £15,000,000 of it has been spent on the London Stadium, I wonder where the other £23,000,000 has wandered off to?

Due to the demand of Hammers fans having to pay for a change, these improvements of standing/railed seating are unlikely to happen in the near future and certainly won’t be a factor in the London Stadium.

Whether you are a fan of the idea of standing/railed seating, the problem is much bigger here. Hammers fans are essentially being extorted - it’s almost as if you ask a kid to pay for the paint to renovate your own home!

Hammers fans have been called ludicrous by some for persistently asking the owners to name their price, perhaps fans weren’t so wrong after all.

Do not attend home games...5/6 games no fans they would soon change there tune....go to away games or annoy them further turn up but do not go inside.
Thankfully i never allowed myself to be conned into going to that dump and attend away games when i can so those wonderful people who run our club never see a penny of my hard earned and never will.

Calling a place a "dump if you've never been there. It's actually a very impressive looking stadium, the operative word here being "looking". I've been five times now, I had to go so I could give a verdict on the place through first hand experience. Four of the times were for football games including one match in the "famed" padded 66 seats kindly proffered by a long term orger who couldn't make a game. None of my visits impressed because the place doesn't work as a football stadium, in fact, I doubt it even works as an athletics stadium and certainly didn't work for me at the one and only time I was in the upper tier as a concert venue (Rolling Stones). Thank God then for the large screen system put up because they were nothing more than little ants. So yes, as a stadium for events it's a bit of a white elephant but it doesn't make it a dump.
However, I'd like to pick your brains (or any other orger) on how you get away tickets, because since that last game at The Boleyn when I finally relinquished my Season Ticket, I've never managed to get one game unless I went in with the home enders.
