David Sullivan set to sue BBC over Panorama documentary

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Fri, 02/10/2026 - 12:19

Whilst David Sullivan is not being an active member of the board at West Ham United, he has clearly ventured his interest elsewhere as it was announced yesterday that the 77-year-old is set to sue the BBC for £150m due to defamation of character.

On June 8th 2026, the BBC released a Panorama titled ‘Predator: The Billionaire Football Boss’. This Panorama had been released in timely fashion after Daniel Kretinsky, the now majority shareholder of West Ham, announced his intention to take control of the club.

No further information has been made available at this moment in time but he’s certainly not keeping himself out of the spotlight. The persistence of attending first team home matches is heavily criticised amongst the Hammers fanbase and the fact he’s continued to attend the London Stadium is damning in itself.

Sullivan is attempting to sue the BBC for almost a 1/6th of his net worth, an attempt to put pressure on the BBC and a message to other brands to keep quiet as they risk facing a defamation lawsuit.
