Declan(P)Rice!

Having finally woken up to the fact that those 'Cock'er'ney' upstarts can actually play good football and beat their supposed 'superiors', the Press have resorted back to their old "who is the latest bidder for Declan Rice?" chesnut, only the price has doubled now.

Firstly, there have been absolutely NO offers for Rice from ANYONE, secondly he doesn't look like a young man who is overly influenced by 'bling', of course he knows his value has rocketed, he would be pretty dumb if he didn't, but he has plenty of time and a whole career ahead of him.

Essentially Rice has easily enough time to become a Hammers legend AND eventually leave for a 'Real Madrid' type of club should he so wish. The caveat about retaining Rice has always been who can offer him the lure of Champions League football, up until this craziest of seasons, the answer would have to have been elsewhere away from West Ham. However if things click and the Irons make even the Europa League, it may well be enough to retain Rice's services for another season and quite possibly beyond, so long as David Moyes remains manager and is 'supported' by the board.

Unfortunately, and this is the online reporters equivalent of the 'commentators curse', having eulogised about the 'silence of the Sully' yesterday, today he has made it known through his Jim 'Brown Nose' White mouthpiece at Talk Sport that the club wouldn't entertain offers below £80-100 Million for the services of the World Class player that Rice is.

What a pity, Sully's silence did seem a bit too good to be true, but in a way you cannot blame him, he must be imploding with the desire to say "look at me, MY football club is finally achieving the recognition I and it deserve!", and in a way he would be correct, however many feel that the club is where it is by default, rather than design, and that unfortunately, you can take the man out the blame, but not the blame out of the man! - Ed

Rice has emerged a real tour de force this season. His development and leadership has been immense. His marauding runs from central midfield and composure never to give the ball away hardly at least. Is really great to watch. Nor is his keenness to pass the armband over to Mr West Ham when he comes on for a short cameo. He is my Hammer of the year already. It will be a travesty to see him leave.......

It really had to be too good to be true the Sully silence lasting too much longer or him having gained any humility over time.
Sully isn't like most of us as he has got a runaway ego that simply can't be contained. I used to hate Harry "naming" the price of a player doing well for us. That was one of Harry's trademarks (along with down to the bare bones). This used to make us supporters feel vulnerable with every piece of rumour or speculation... Well done Sully for using the ventriloquist's dummy to send up another flare.
Personally, I think that this is due to our form and position and that he has realised what is heading his way in terms of investment in the team this summer.
Scary times ahead Sully!

Sullivan and Gold are both getting old and recently the media have been reporting they are thinking of selling the club for anything between £600-800M. Perhaps this is why Sullivan has come out and said Rice is worth £100M to bump up the selling price?

A D Bonds

the way Rice went to hand Nobes the captains arm band when he came on and Nobes told him to keep it on. a very poignant moment i think !!!!!!! a big gesture from one mr west ham to another

I think Noble knows that if this club is going to achieve everything it desires then Rice has to stay and even though Mark is only a bit part player now his loyalty is to the team. Rice will be so proud that Mark told him to keep the band on and that would show him how much he means to this club so he should be realising that if he did go to another club, would he get the same level of loyalty from all the so called stars. This club is firing and by staying here he could be part of a fantastic future.
