An Eye For An Eye - A Draw For A Draw

On Saturday evening, the Hammers accumulated bright fortune as a miraculous point against Manchester City was achieved, a fantastic point to round off Saturday football, but all Hammers fans had a keen eye on Sunday as all of Spurs, Leeds, and Nottingham Forest all played, and conveniently they all achieved the same result…

A point was enough to edge Nuno’s side out of the relegation zone, but only temporarily, the Hammers come into next gameweek back in the relegation zone and on the same amount of points to all opponents, we are currently on level with Nottingham Forest after their outing against Fulham, which they rather unfortunately for them didn’t claim all three points, whereas Spurs rode their luck until the final minute where they scored a freak equaliser.

It’s fair to say that we’ve been Slot-ed away shamefully there, seeing as Liverpool not only embarrassingly put five past us, but they also played a rotated side against Spurs! How much more misfortune would go in the way of the Hammers? It’s been a crushing constant this season.

Leeds also found their fortune as Farke’s 10-man side clutched on to secure a crucial point, retaining the three-point gap to ourselves.

West Ham United are now set to take on Aston Villa next week, where we kick off at the same time, Sunday 14:15, as Tottenham against Nottingham Forest, a game in which a side is guaranteed to lose points. Frustratingly, it’s yet another week where it feels as if all West Ham have managed to accomplish is keeping up with the rest of the field, but in reality, it’s a whole lot more.

The confidence our side would’ve been able to accumulate would’ve been remarkable. The ability we have to go into every game and fight is unknown to those around us and across the next five matchweeks. The pendulum has swung, and the Hammers no longer have the most ‘difficult’ fixtures in the Premier League, as Opta initially suggested the Hammers had.

All is still to play for, but at one point the points gap between ourselves and safety was nine - it’s now level with just eight games to go. -LN

Liverpool were poor and Spudz deserved the point from what I saw in the first half.

We are not out of this, Villa are in shocking form with an eye on Europe, we can get something there!
