Hammers Close In On ‘Ferocious’ Forward

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Thu, 01/01/2026 - 10:00

It’s the 1st of the month, but it’s not April Fools! West Ham United seem set to make their first signing of the January transfer window and it’s for the Portuguese international Pablo.

The Pablo deal has excelled at a rate not many would’ve anticipated given West Ham’s previous negotiation tactics, but today, the youngster will undergo his medical in London, seeing as a fee has already been agreed, as well as personal terms.

The fee for Pablo certainly isn’t pennies, it’s a €20,000,000 fee, but he has been deemed the ‘best’ value for money signing of the forwards by members of the board. However, what has warranted him to be worth said amount is his 10 goals across 14 appearances. Whilst he’s in the Portuguese League and more often than not certain players end up struggling when moving to a Top 5 League, that doesn’t mean he can’t become good. Factoring in his age and form, it’s the reason as to why their asking price was £17,500,000, and the club swiftly agreed to the fee, which seems to be the most surprising factor of the deal entirely, quick business.

Pablo is also the son of retired Brazilian striker Pena, who played with Nuno for two years (2002-2004) whilst the pair were both at Porto.

Not too much can be said upon Pablo, it’s difficult to comment upon previous seasons given that he’s an emerging forward and this appears to be his breakout season, the club are hoping that he is ready to continue his striving form into the Premier League and are confident to conclude a deal BEFORE the fixture against Wolves, to ensure he could be an option to play in what is the most crucial game of the season so far.

Work is ongoing in the background for Adama Traore and after three failed attempts previously, it seems that Nuno will indeed get his man, but for the time being, the focus remains on the prevalent Pab deal getting over the line - LN

Given our track record of strikers who are scoring for fun before arriving here, Id've thought maybe trying one who can't score in a brothel right now would be a wiser bet. Someone like Strand Larsen.
Whilst recognising that we are badly missing Antonio, I'm not sure his aging brother Traore is the answer either and where would you play him? Up front?

thankfully its only a deal until the end of the season which suits both parties whether you are a fan of the player or not...as for the Striker Pablo well as long as he can last 90mins it will be good start for us......The Larsen deal wont happen they want £40million and Palace now in for him..shame i liked the player but even thats to Rich for my blood
