It Had To Be As Hammers Draw Billic's Baggies In FA Cup 4th Rd

Submitted by Akira Andersson on Mon, 06/01/2020 - 20:16

Having battled through the difficult 3rd round FA Cup tie away to Gillingham, West Ham United have been rewarded with a home tie in the 4th round, against Slaven Billic's West Bromwich Albion!

Wouldn't you just know it, out of all the clubs remaining in the draw you could have bet your house that the Irons would be matched against some form of nemesis, possibly Millwall or Tottenham, if they manage to overcome Middlesbrough in the replay.

To be drawn against a team that is topping the Championship is tough enough, but the fact that the opposition are managed by fan's favourite Slaven Billic adds a bit of extra spice, and jeopardy!

The fixtures are due to take place between Friday the 24th and Monday the 27th of January, at least Grady Diangana will be unable to play against his parent club, but it would have been preferable to have been matched up against a team that has no direct association, past or present to West Ham. - Ed

It would be carnage mate,The Queens and the Boleyn and surrounding pubs were closed, last time we played them in the Championship at Upton Park, and they were ferried to the ground by riot police through the houses out the way to the Bobby Moore Stand,i was there,no doubt you were. Its a fair way to walk now and try and contain them, there would be riots all over, theres Pubs on the Broadway, and Bars in Westfield, you would end up closing a third of the East End,as Nev says, they would consider behind closed doors.

I think if we do meet Millwall (assuming we both get through 4th round). The game whenever it arrives will be behind closed doors due to the trouble at Upton Park last time.
Several of us were in the Duke Pub when about 10 Millwall old boys came in covered in blood and bruises having been fighting in Green Street and the surrounding area. Some of them even older than me. They left us alone had a couple of pints then went out again looking for another round (not beer this time). The 80's were crazy times but some of these silly old buggers don't forget do they? West Ham (under Cass Pennant) gave them a beatingmany a time which it seems they still want revenge. Silly old sods :-)
