It is not just social media that is awash with reports regarding Jesse Lingard's impending departure from Manchester United, following recent developments there are now genuine reasons for fans to believe that Lingard will be arriving at their club, but which one?

Jesse's agent, who is also his brother, has made it clear as day that his client is NOT prepared to stay at Old Trafford when his contract ends in June, and will definitely NOT be signing a new contract irrespective of what is on offer, citing Ole Gonner's broken promises as the main factor in reaching what is a tumultuous decision for a player who came all the way through the United youth system.

'Gonner' must have gone to the 'Levy School of Broken Promises' for the special 'hand shake' class when he 'enticed' Lingard back to Old Trafford with promises of first team football, but then signing not only Jaden Sancho but also the preening one himself, Ronaldo!

Seeing one person signed for massive money who plays in your role is bad enough, but to then see another arrive, the preening star that is Ronaldo who was virtually guaranteed to start ahead of him, must have been the final straw for the Lingards. 'Gonner' might be gone by the time the January window opens, but having been publicly slighted by his boyhood club, Lingard has decided enough is enough and is anticipating a move to the London Bowl, NOT St James' Park.

Through careful financial investments, Lingard is already a wealthy man who will be seeking playing time over income. Of course he will expect to earn well, but essentially playing is the name of the game for him as he reaches his peak age, his next move will define his career.

David Moyes is an obvious admirer of Lingard and was keen to acquire his services on a permanent basis following his incredibly successful loan spell at the club, however he and the board baulked at United's £25 Million valuation, eventually signing Nikola Vlasic instead.

Lingard's 'value' is plummeting as his contract runs down and despite being known as one of the wealthiest clubs in World football, they are owned on borrowed money and have to be financially accountable, as a consequence their bean counters will want to see Lingard moved on during the window in order to at least get something for him.

There is one relevant, but newly unique element for Manchester United to consider with regards to Lingard joining West Ham, and that is, can they risk selling him to a rival club that currently sits FOUR places above them? Hopefully the conceit displayed by their manager is endemic at the club and the Old Trafford hierarchy will be so full of themselves that they will think Hammers are just another bunch of noisy neighbours who are located just a short earth warming flight away.

The 'closer' we have heard is that Lingard has described the atmosphere as 'TOXIC' at Old Trafford, what a difference from what he experienced at West Ham hey? IF Hammers can get the deal over the line for the mooted £10 Million asking price, then it could actually really make the difference between being top level finishers as opposed to nearly rans.

Outcomes can be defined and dependant on fine lines, Lingard might well provide that extra element required to get the club over the line this season and confirm it's 'elite' status is NOT a flash in the pan, and that the club is FINALLY getting to the level that it's supporters have deserved for years. - Ed
