Loaves & Fishes From The Moyesiah

A long long time ago, in what was a different universe, a small minority of people had the absolute gall and temerity to actualy believe David Moyes could miraculously turn his metaphoric loaves and fishes team into fayre capable of providing footballing sustinance for thousands and thousands, and you know what? He is doing just that!

Moyes has worked the Oracle as he has gradually cut out almost all of the dead wood, while making smart acquisitions in adddition to BELIEVING in the Academy players at his disposal. It is no co-incidence that there are now an astonishing crop of youngsters coming though what after all is THE ACADEMY.....West Ham United, the Academy of football.

Instead of 'wanging away' by bringing in past it mercanaries David Moyes has elected to bring on some extraordinary talent, the likes of which haven't been seen since the Academy's halycyon days of delivering the mercurial talents of Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Glen Jonstone and Frank Lampard Jnr.

This type of development is one that Moyes loves, but more so it is what fans adore, 'one of their own' coming though the ranks, it is what made West Ham 'special' in the past and looks as if it is going to happen again in the near future.
Aji Alese, Harrison Ashby, Jamal Baptiste and Emmanuel Longelo were the back four against Manchester United U-23s during Saturday afternoon's 6-0 victory (perhaps a portent for what happened to their 1st team the next day). It will require ANOTHER full article to cover the glut of exciting midfield and attacking players coming through the ranks.

Loaves and fishes coming from the Moyesiah, you betcha!

It's all of those little things that have been happening which many supporters wouldn't notice that are leading to the seismic changes taking place at this club.
One by one he selected his coaching staff, even bringing back Stuart Pearce (which was NEVER going to happen lol). He also placed his focus on the scouting and director of football...tick, only gone out and got the best.
But straight away he made the Academy a focus of his attention and wanted the U23's to be closer to the first team and that meant training with and alongside the first team. We are now seeing the fruits of all of those small changes and we've hardly got started yet.
I know that West Ham being everyone's second team has always been talked about and it isn't something that I ever took much notice of, but I was aware that as a club our reputation had taken a bit of a beating by always stumbling from one back page controversy to another. But since Moyes came in, he has not only cleaned up this leaky club, he has paid attention to DETAIL because after all, that is what running a club is ALL about. This is why I always took exception to the word DITHERING Dave, because being Pragmatic and having Attention to DETAIL is clearly what this club needed and has been lacking. We have had managers by the bucketload, whose sole interest was the first team and their results, but if the foundation isn't right, like a pack of cards it Will collapse....and it did, many many times in the past.
Regarding being everyone's second team, I believe that Moyes has already brought a new generation of supporters to the club with all the kids at school now being able to look down on those Gooners and spuds.
Moyes is already heading towards legend status as we have never had a manager as DETAILED as Moyes that I can remember. Don't get me wrong, we have had good periods under previous managers at this club, but NONE of them has had or given to the club this level of attention to detail as Moyes has done. Sorry for the length of my post, but I felt that it needed to be said.

Interesting to note on Sunday. It was stated the Man Utd are the lowest in the running stats for any club. Ole has not got a fit team by all accounts.

Moyes first job was to get us fit as racing snakes. By God he managed that, out with the under performers and non tryers Haller et al.

Ole has a long way to go to get his Utd anywhere near as fit as us. Utd's loss is our gain. Moyes has now been able to demonstrate how he builds not just a team, but a club something Fergie obviously could see when he chose him as his successor...
