Lucas Paqueta Edges Closer To Brazilian Exit With Improved Bid

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Tue, 13/01/2026 - 08:56

Lucas Paqueta has officially halted. The Brazilian’s toys are all out of the pram, and he’s having a paddy. He formally spoke to the club and proclaimed that he will not get off his high horse and indeed now is the time he wishes to depart from the Hammers, though he may not be granted his late wishes.

Nuno Espírito Santo is very keen to keep Paqueta for the remainder of the season and he believes that he‘s one of the staple pieces of the team, however, Sulky Sully’s eyes have been lighting up at the glistening figure Flamengo have offered the Hammers, €40,000,000, which West Ham are considering.

Flamengo offered €35,000,000 yesterday, but the Hammers informed the side that they'd have to pay more for the deal to be considered and therefore, it was rejected.

The Brazilian, who’s been nicknamed ‘Paqman’ by many, has seemingly wanted a return to his home in Brazil ever since the betting allegations had been concluded. He felt that his time in England had been nothing short of miserable and chaotic, which has ultimately been a key factor in this abrupt ending to a chapter.

West Ham are seriously considering selling Paqueta as it would be one of the last opportunities to receive a good sum of money for the attacking midfielder, but on the other hand, it could be slightly ludicrous and a ‘kamikaze’ decision to sell a significant asset mid relegation fight!

There were a few lingering rumours that Spurs were interested in Paqueta, which did prove to be true, but the Brazilian swiftly declined and made it clear that he wants to return to Brazil, not continue his chapter in England elsewhere.

Personal terms have already been agreed between the Brazilian and Flamengo, with both parties attempting to place pressure on West Ham to conclude a deal sooner rather than later.

It remains unknown whether the €40,000,000 on the table is enough to convince West Ham, but the hand is there if it wants to be fed…the only question that remains is whether the already fed hand will share its food with the others? - LN

Personally i would sell him mainly because he's been on a downward spiral since he lost out going to man city.I suspect he is also a destructive influence in the dressing room. Why nuno wants to hang on to him especially as he is not playing for the team he is actually a liability to the team now just like kilman is get as much as you can from the sale and move onward.

Yes the consensus amongst West Ham fans is a resounding piss off Pacqueta. As any discerning fan knows, anyone who does not want to play for the Irons. Can Foxtrot Oscar. He will be booed from arsehole to breakfast time if he ever pulls the claret and blue on again.

Pacqueta, put down and piss off son!!

The FA's persecution against him has been truly abhorrent and he deserves a bit of leeway. He's not angling for a move to a "bigger" club, nor has he done a Kudus or Payet. He just wants to get away from this shithole of a country (he's not alone) but just wants to go home and play football.
Yes, it probably is time for him to move on, and given the circumstances the club should let him go (not for peanuts obviously).Given the rumblings and it was quite clear for some time Paqueta was going, you'd have thought the board would have had a contingency plan in hand although yeah, with this board is maybe too much to hope for.
If he is on the pitch again in Claret and Blue, it would be nice if the fans gave him a bit of support.
Just my take on it anyway.

What part of refusing to play against QPR is not refusing to play for us?

He's trying to exactly do a Payet. I thought you were a plain speaking staunch realist Deluded. Do you honestly think he's going to be welcomed back to the team now, by our fans?

I think I know how this is going to end!

Said that he asked not to be picked. Bit different to refusing to play. The fact that the club agreed to that request rather suggests to me that he will be gone soon.
Payet on the other hand refused point blank to play, went public that he wanted to play for Arsenal and tried to withhold repayment of the £100k loyalty bonus we paid him

From an emotional perspective I would like him gone, he's had an attitude for some time and kissing the badge, throwing away the phone etc turns out to be pure BS. I really hated the hugging of Pep etc although had we sold him part of the deal was Cole Palmer coming in the opposite direction, now that would have been a great deal. Pep was NEVER going to touch him regardless of the betting scandal, he gives the ball away too easy. Talk of Spudz being interested is nonsense, they prefer Conner Gallagher.. dont we all!

From a rationale perspective his stats are not impressive. This Season 4 goals and just one assist so from a "creative" perspective not exactly world class. We lack someone brave to attempt the forward creative pass. We also hear he's a bad influence in the dressing room and will from now on just get pelters from the fans.

But again as raised by DH, no contingency plan which is typical of B&S.

On balance and reflection... He is the weakest link.. Goodbye!!

On the subject of moves. I cant help noticing we are supposedly enquiring after Oddbod. Apparently Nuno is big on the leadership thing. I can see the spuds now pissing their pants at that thought. Personally, I'm not giving it any credence whatsoever.

Who next? Kenneth Williams on a free - frying tonight.......!!
