More Out Than In During Jan?

Yesterday's defeat by Leeds did rather shine a light on the well known paucity of David Moyes' Hammers squad, a team with top for or even top six aspirations needs more than Andriy Yarmolenko and Authur Masuaku on their bench. The end of Yarmolenko's contract cannot come soon enough for many Hammers fans, with the feeling that he has 'stolen' a living for the past three and a half years.

Authur Masuaku is a slightly different story because at least the player turns up' when required, however that does NOT detract from the fact that there is NO WAY on this earth that the club can possibly reach the heady heights long suffering fans have been screaming out for, unless the squad receives a radical overhaul.

There has been an enormous amount of criticism directed at David Moyes for NOT having brought in a striker, or a central defender or a left back, but the manager's hands have been tied as he has had to deal with the aftermath of the Pellegrini era, only when the summer window opens will he finally be free of the dead weight he has had to carry since his return to East London.

Unfortunately there is as much chance of moving the dead wood on during this transfer window as there is for getting takers for a sausage roll at a Vegan party, so Hammers are stuck with several players they can't even give away due to the ludicrous contracts they were given by Pellegrini and Housillos.

One very strange rumour we have heard of that is doing the rounds is that none other than Andy Carroll MIGHT be offered a short term appearance based deal until the end of the season! Reading manager Veljko Paunovic is confident that former England striker Andy Carroll will stay at the Championship strugglers after his short-term deal ended on Saturday. However, Burnley are also interested in the 33-year-old, so the rumours need to be taken with more than a pinch of salt!

It will only be in June when the 'real' David Moyes squad can begin to take shape, unfortunately by then Hammers may well have missed their golden opportunity to gatecrash the Champions League, for the SECOND YEAR running! Such opportunities are few and far between, as it is highly unlikely that underachievers like Manchester United and Tottingham can possibly continue being so woeful.

IF Hammers miss the opportunities they have been presented with this season, it may be a long time IF EVER until a similar situation occurs again! - LN

If Carroll comes back that sums up the ambition of this club. We are on the cusp of taking the next step. Even consolidating 6th place would be a remarkable achievement. At least 3 new additions are a must. I think Diop is now in the category of Musuaku & Yarmalenko. Me personally, would be happy to get Nat Phillips & James Tarkowski in and move Diop on in this window. Then moving Dawson on the summer. For me. Only Schick will do as a striker.

I'm thinking Zouma's return cannot come soon enough. Dawson was woefully exposed as the player he truly is. Devoid of pace, an experienced pro yes. But bang average and that's nowhere near good enough at this level. It is glaringly obvious we need to improve the quality at the back. The jury is out on Diop for me, he will undoubtedly play better alongside Zouma.

For me Masuaku has to go along with Yarmo be there picking up his wages.

Masuaku is the original rebel without a clue. How can anybody else on the field know where he's going, when Masuaku doesn't even know himself. He does my melon in.

I can only imagine the gut wrenching feeling Moyes has each time he has to bring on Yarmo. As for Carroll, lets get real, why not have him pick up Jack Wheelchair en route!!!!
