Moyes Nails Colours To Mast With No Subs

West Ham went in to the fourth round of the 'Moose' Cup knowing that progression would be against one of several top clubs, consequently when they went 1-0 down against Everton the writing seemed to be on the wall, after all, apart from the Kudos, the EFL Cup or whatever you wish to name it has become increasingly worthless.

As soon as European football qualification as a result of winning the Efl Cup was removed, the competition was effectively made pointless, clubs essentially have to pay for the privilege to play in the competition, and most Barclays Premier League clubs are focusing on the bigger picture, either survival or proper European football.

The Hammers team selected to play against the Toffees was good enough to give it a go, there was an extraordinarily strong bench, but importantly Irons manager David Moyes chose NOT to use any of his 'game changing' substitutes, seemingly content to keep his powder dry for the upcoming match against Leicester City.

Moyes' approach may appear to have been negative, but a quick glance at the injuries picked up by several Everton players is indicative as to why he was so cautious, West Ham simply do not have enough strength in depth ALL across the squad to risk injuring one of the club's key players in what is going to be a difficult season.

Fans will be disappointed at the end of what was a decent cup run, but the real deal is the Barclays Premier League, and that it appears is exactly how David Moyes as well as the Hammers hierarchy think, far better to concentrate on the League and then go for a good FA Cup run that DOES offer the opportunity of proper European football. - Ed

You've got to see it from his point of view ,your right Nev the carabou cup is meaningless ,only mean for lower division glory ,like it or not it means nothing to the likes of moyes ,although many irons fans would love a trip to wembly again ,to Moyes its finishing in the top half that matters ,thats the difference between management and fans ,the fans demand instant success where as the gaffer has a 3 or 4 year plan, lets see how we get on on Sunday in going for 2-2

Its easy for the likes of Fergie or Marina they have the strength in numbers to target 2 or even 3 ,but with the bottom half if they go south their more than likely out of a job ,carabou cup or not

We can have both! Bug Eyes is wrong. Our B team with a few additions off the bench at the 70 min mark could have made all the difference.

As annoyed as I was having also paid the £10 to watch the game, I realised how it would end with Noble and Snodgrass as our enforcers. As much as I was seething as a supporter who had tuned in to watch us win, once I calmed down I slowly started to see the Big Picture.
After another great escape, along with the size of our squad that we have... I'm with Burkie111 on this one.
As a side note, I played football for many years and fancied myself as a Bonzo in style with the will to win but last night I was foaming at the mouth whilst watching Anderson...... That man is collecting money under false pretences. If West Ham was a plane attempting to take off, he would be jettisoned without the blinking of an eye. Send him to Turkey on a free and write off his transfer fee as a lesson learnt.

Anderson flatters to deceive, but surrounded by others he can shine, unfortunately despite coming from a 'challenging' background when he was young he doesn't appear to have any fight in him.

It's a bit like being a passenger in a vehicle being driven... Everyone has an opinion. It's just that ours is different. Initially, I did feel like you do but I have now reached my own conclusion.

Unfortunately the reason is essentially money, in the short term, the only benefit of winning the moose cup is a shiny cup. In an ideal world it would have been good to have pursued it, but the FA Cup and the league have taken precedent. One day possibly when there is a bit of stability it will be possible to attack on all three fronts, until then it is a question of survival with the faint glimmer of hope of a good FA cup run, bleak but pragmatic I'm afraid.

I hear what your saying dicksy and fair play to you ,you've allways been a passionate cup competition fan but Nev is right ,its just a useless bit of silver ,especially now theres no gate recites, you cant get into Europe from it ,your lookin for a reason we didn't field a stronger team or at least a few subs ?imo one word " injurys " ,im very surprised he played Rice at all ,if we loose him to injury it would be nothing short of a catastrophe ,
We're going through tough times mate and the time to think about cup runs is when we are a little less vulnerable

I think there might be a bit of fear after last season's "efforts" Moyes came in and set about getting his best team, he made a couple of decent additions but at the end of the day he's still left with a lot of baggage that he hasn't been able to shift or replace. So the 1st 11 is limited. It is early in the season and whilst there are no easy games in the Prem one look at our list of opponents and the fans heads were dropping before a ball had been kicked. Does the manager feel the same way somewhat?

Im on your page. At this early stage in the season I also dont get it. Playing the B team was the correct thing to do at this stage, nice opportunity for a real run out in a competitive match but... we had some game changers on the bench and for 20 minutes, remember no extra time, he could have made a game of it. Instead allowed us to get a tonking, lower the club moral for the Leicester game and miss out on a cup run. For what its worth I would love a day out at wembley in the final of the Mouse Cup!!!

But played possibly our best player, Rice. And out of position at that. But maybe after that abysmal performance, Chelsea will lose interest in him as a Centre Back.

But I worry about your mental stability if mine and DITM do it for you.
If we're talking sexually, being the beast I am, I can see what your talking about. DITM hasn't seen his in years, but it is beautiful, I'm not judging.
