Nuno Espírito Santo To Stay Or Go?

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Tue, 05/05/2026 - 17:08

As the season begins to come to an end, the Hammers are set to go through a mountain of changes, whether they remain in the Premier League or not.

One decision that’ll be one of many significant ones will be whether West Ham United’s manager next season will be Nuno Espírito Santo.

West Ham have made it known that they would want to keep Nuno should the Hammers suffer relegation, viewing him as one of the perfect candidates for the task that would be at hand.

The club do have the power to potentially remove Nuno from his position for free as the club introduced a ‘relegation clause’ into his contract, which was due to the club having spent a lot of money on both the removals of Julian Lopetegui and Graham Potter. The clause gives West Ham total power, but they have indicated they would want to keep the Portuguese international.

Nuno has had previous experience in the Championship as he won the division with 99 points back in the 2017/18 season whilst at Wolverhampton Wanderers, an extremely competitive Championship, which should be considered as well.

Nuno has yet to comment as to whether he would stay if West Ham were to be relegated, but that’s to be expected, given that no manager would give in to such a question with still three Premier League games remaining.

Nuno has great experience in dealing with a club that sells its top players on a regular basis to survive financial difficulties, but whether he would want to put up with that issue he did at Wolves is another question.

With just three games remaining, these are the questions that need to be asked, as whilst the fat lady hasn’t yet sung, she certainly is warming up her vocal cords.

Id say stay. He knows how to get a side out of chumps and keep them in prem.

Other potential names if we go down would be parker and frank.

I think personally if we go down he will go he won't be sacked sullivan is still paying off lopi and potters contracts so you could give paco a chance or parker they might even go for slaven bilic but with all the debt piling up it's going to be a major clear out even if we stay up players will be sold because the board won't put their own money in to sort their own mess out sullivan being the main culprit as majority owner so we would most likely be fighting relegation again next season if we stay up.Personally i don't like saying so but it might be better in the long term that we go down get rid of the dead wood and start building again with a better long term vision younger players with a good sell on price like bournemouth and brighton have done over the years it can be done but the club needs someone with vision but sullivan is not capable of vision he is not capable to run any club he really needs to go he is too old and to old to change.

I think we should keep him,hes done well in a short space of time, and knows how to fight in difficult situations, which we seem to always be in,and yes he would get us back,if we stay up,he would progress with us,and reckon we wouldnt be in this position next season with him.

If by the most enormous, gigantic miracle we stay up. Then he stays, carrying on building the squad. He'll be a hero in some quarters, he's a really likeable guy, who the players understand and respect. We have a good group now.

If and when we go down. I'd like him to stay. He would be the best qualified Manager to get us back up. He knows the youngsters. Understands the club now. Would have to largely rebuild the squad. As players would need to be sold. Plus there egos wouldn't let them play in the Championship.

Heres the question. Would Nuno want to stay under Sullivan? Or would he walk away?
All this will become clearer come the last game of the season at home, a perfect time to wave goodbye. Especially, if we are already down.....

We will know by the time we play Newcastle what our Destiny is, lets face it that its not to good, and we will be going down. This will mean that Bowen, Summerville Fernandes Tobido Hermansen and Mavrapanos will all have to be sold to get us out of debt, and its gonna be a hard tablet to swallow and I think 50% of the season ticket holders will leave, and nearly all of them have wanted Sullivan to leave from the beginning of the season, And if the dwarf stays i think that many of these supporters will not renew their season tickets, I have had a season ticket for 11 years and have supported them for 65 years and will probably go to the odd game or 2 but it looks to me like Sullivan stays and a lot of supporters will be leaving including me, Does he care - I Dont think so, will Nuno want to stay and work under Sullivan and try to rebuild a new team I personally don't think that he will put up with Sullivans Brown envelope brigade, Nuno will want to use his agents and his staff, and this will cause problems straight away, plus its said that Nuno will have a drop in wages, cant see him standing for that, but if Sullivan Fcks off and Nuno stays then this is going to be a much better outcome, I might even renew but ut at the moment I've all had enuf and enuf is enough. Nuno has the experience to rebuild a team and get us back into the prem. BUT if the dwarf stays then I cant see West ham going back up for a very long time, and I will not be renewing my season ticket while he is still there he has ruined our club and this is the outcome be lucky to see 50,000 in the bowl next season and no tourists either. YOU CAN FCUK RIGHT OFF SULLIVAN
