The Pits Of Despair

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Mon, 18/05/2026 - 09:40

Worry, fear, disappointment, and dread are all non-existent amongst the West Ham fans; the heart of this club has passed that. This season has been an impending nightmare that was tipped over the edge for numerous reasons and has contained far too many if’s, buts and maybes. It’s a miracle that West Ham even has a chance of staying up going into the final day.

The heart of the club has been stripped, and bar the two purple patches the Hammers had, the season has been nothing short of miserable, an impending doom since October, which says a lot!

Despite being tragic for the majority of the season, fans have still attended games, pretty much selling out every home match and also fulfilling our away allocation week in week out, yet the disappointment has been nothing but persistent. The loyalty our fans possess is incomparable to the values that our owners share, and this mishap now brings a void of uncertainty into the future of this Football club.

The situation we have placed ourselves in now sees our manager, our players and our fans on Tuesday night sitting in front of a TV screen hoping for Chelsea to win to allow us to have a glimpse of hope for the final day.

Not to mention the miserable and shameful feeling of how much money this club has wasted away, and there’s a higher possibility than not that the financial difficulties will be tougher to overcome in the Championship, especially given the whirlpool of debt we have accumulated, as well as the limited funding that the Championship provides.

A pit of despair, a sliver of hope.

Miracles do happen, but West Ham needs more than that, two losses in a row for Spurs and a win for West Ham is all it takes, could it be possible?

Whilst the heart beleives, the mind suggests it's out of range.

Imo chelsea will be stoked. Their fans will not accept anything but a win v spurs. Spurs only need a draw yes, but that mentality might be their undoing.

Heres hoping palmer n co crush them. Going into last day will send spurs into pressure cooker.

I have despised Chelsea more than any other football club, including Utd during the Ferguson days. Here I am now, drawing a pension, shaking my head in disbelief that for the first time in my life hoping for a Chelsea win, Unheard of. And for the record, most of my Chelsea supporting buddies (alot of them ex Utd fans since the Abromovitch money) detest West Ham just as much as Tottenham so I'm not thinking their fans will be all that bothered.

Me too Dave. Since the mid 70's I was subjected to Chelsea bollocks day in day out. My best friend at school. Lived round the corner from me and had 2 elder brothers. I constantly had to listen to there songs. I'd end up having bundles with them always getting my head farted on. Oh it was great fun, I was 13 and staunch West Ham by this time, 8 years deep. It was a sort of bullying but play fighting. Oh how I loved it not!!

Anyway it's always stuck with me, I even had to pose in the shed once and they kept jokingly trying to out me. Right in front of Kojak, who was a Shed leader at the time. I was cacking my pants to be honest. We drew 1-1 thanks to a Pat Holland goal must have been about 1978 I think?

Anyway the rest is history. I left school and we grew apart before he emigrated to Australia. I fvcking cant bring myself to want Chelsea to win sorry gang. But it runs too deep for me.

Suppose I'm proper fvcked...........Blub Blub...
