Potter Pummelled With Bruising Defeat - West Ham 0-3 Spurs

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sat, 13/09/2025 - 19:56

All smoke and mirrors as Hammers suffer brutal defeat after beating Nottingham Forest 3-0.

Once again, it seems that no momentum can be dragged forward nor built upon as after a relatively successful first half, the Hammers nearly took the lead after a near miss from Lucas Paqueta but the dismal organisation off set pieces would prove to cost.

The first set piece of pain would be disallowed but in hindsight, it was rather light considering Fernandes also pushed Van de Ven but at the end of the game, that would mean nothing.

Going into half-time felt that Potter could get something, but a corner saw Sarr convert, leaving us down one just as the half kicked off, the goal would also exclaim the issues West Ham have marking off corners, the clubs abysmal ability to defend has proven costly.

From bad to worse as Tomas Soucek would receive a straight red, a poorly timed tackle from the Czech saw him receive a straight red and rightly so. This ultimately killed West Ham’s, not so high, confidence and a looping header over Hermansen saw us 2-0 down.

No threat, no fire, no answer after conceding two, all that could be done was attempt to soak up the pressure and focus on damage limitation… which wouldn’t go well as we conceded a third.

Many suggested that a back four could be the answer to Potter’s everlasting problems, especially after the result against Nottingham Forest, but the back four formation today showed otherwise and yet again, Potter’s side seems clueless once momentum is lost.

There’s an overwhelming feeling within the players and fans that once we’re a goal down, it’s virtually impossible to fight or comeback stronger.

That’s now 11 goals conceded in 4 games in the Premier League or 14 goals conceded in 5, pick your poison.

After the game it was announced that a fire had broken out at Westfield in the car park and it wouldn’t come as a shock to many if that’s Potter’s or Sully vehicle.

Either way, the predominant blame will go on to Soucek, who essentially costing Potter any chance of getting back in the game, or, is the Czech a scapegoat to a disaster that was already pending?

Blame is firmly with our defence and defensive coaching staff for conceeding the goals. They just havent a clue how to defend set pieces. What i fail to understand how for 20 mins we went at them but then suddenly sat back and let them into the game conceding corner after corner. Pathetic really

Potter has to take most of the blame for playing one of our fiercest rivals at home and not starting a striker.
Once again the mans all about containing and being ultra cautious and as the game was unfolding in the first half and the writing to me and just about everyone else was on the wall that we were bloody lucky going in at HT level.
He changed nothing we went behind right at the start of the second half did he react? of course he did not why would he it's not in his nature going another goal behind and then being reduced to ten men mmm maybe i may need a striker at some point! the mans ability to act in a crisis is non existent and he refuses to take the game to the opposition at home in a Derby give me strength.
This man has to go and the entire rotten board along with it what a laughing stock we have become.

Lookatt,at some point we have to face up to the fact that if you take 3 or 4 players out of that squad it might achieve div 3 status .
This has been coming for years ,funny thing is it keeps happening,we get to the brink of incompetence, and then get a couple of results and it's great , we've had a complete rebuild and we're going to euro, bet anything we get a point against Palace next week and it'll buy Potter more time, I don't know how it's going to be fixed ,I don't even know how deep the problem goes ,all I see is us free fallin into the abyss and that vision a lot us had a couple of years back when all we could see was the weeds groin up through the concrete at the L S ,you can't keep this shite up and expect good attendance 's , at least at the Boleyn ground when we went down we didn't stay there to long ,a complete boycott of our ground untill that little gobshite goes and takes his cronys with him is what it's going to take .

So look right. When Potter came to the club I was positively optimistic. That reflected in my posts. I backed the man. I defended him. Said it wasn't his team, he needed time to put his ethos in place. The season petered out. We certainly did not cover ourselves in glory. Far from it. But there was nothing left to play for.

We weren't going down and things would improve. Fast forward to now. We had an appalling transfer window. That was down to the owners. The Dildo massive were not putting there hands in there pockets. Players were forced onto Potter. Wilson, to a lesser extent KWP. But pre season looked promising to a degree.

After what I saw yesterday I'm not backing Potter anymore. Yes he's stuck with a flat back for. Although I'm now wondering if he got them from IKEA. As they played like a flat pack 4, wooden and crap!! Mad Herman Munster looks about as tall as Dildo Dave and has been lobbed for the 30 millionth time inside his box!!

Why was Kyle "where's my neck" Peters marking Romero on every set piece? It was like Ronnie Corbett marking Tommy Cooper. But unfortunately not at all funny.

No Centre Forward, no urgency from the off. This is the game we all look forward to all season. I've seen more life in a tramps vest. We defended too deep in the first half. But literally got away with it.

Soucecks rash tackle finished us off. Although to give him his due. He was genuinely concerned for his victim. Also apologised to both sets of fans as he walked off. If there is a more humble pro in the game I'm yest to see it. So he's out for 3 straight games now.

I switched it off with 15 mins to go and went and got on the pop. I just want Potter out now. I can see why Chelsea binned him off. He is clueless and far too cautious. He should have fought fire with fire from the off yesterday. Getting the BOM rocking. So what if we lost 3-4 at least we would have had a bloody good go at it. This was another embarrassing damp squib of a performance. Where's the youth home grown factor gone? He has to go.

Get Nuno in???

Some match report comments on here still. I can't be arsed any more. Didn't even get upset when Spurs scored. Just chuckled with all my Spurs mate who were trying to wind me up with texts. You can't p#ss me off anymore.
