Red Card Rescinded-Now What About Dean & Mason?

Not unsurprisingly, Tomas Soucek's red card, dished out to him by Mike 'Pearl &' Dean in the game against Fulham, has been successfully overturned following an appeal by West Ham United. Dean, in conjunction with his cohort on VAR, Lee Mason, succeeded in issuing a blatantly incorrect red card for the second time in just ONE week!

The FA, having already had to rescind the red card incorrectly awarded against Southampton's Jan Bednarek earlier in the week, have found themselves having to work over time to clear the name of another 'innocent offender' as a direct result of Dean and Mason's inefficient execution of their duties.

To err once is totally forgivable, but to err TWICE within the same week must surely be a situation that needs investigation, the results of which need to be learned from. Unfortunately a small minority of fans from both Southampton and West Ham have taken to the 'keyboard warrior' option of offering threats to the officials and their families, which is an utterly abhorrent act.

These mindless individuals are detracting from the gravitas of what was a purely sporting issue, and as such their actions will deflect the over riding issues, namely that VAR is NOT being used as was originally intended, and that certain officials seem unable to cope with the technology in use. We understand Dean will take charge of Leicester's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Brighton on Wednesday but will not be involved in any of the weekend Barclays Premier League fixtures in any capacity at his own request. -Ed

Dean made a mistake along with Mason but to abuse his family is wrong......if only the refs were to come out and explain there actions it may take the heat out of the situation but they are not allowed which is farcical in these days.....look at rugby american football cricket the officials explain there decisions.....

I think explanations or even releasing match reports would go a long way to appeasing fans of all clubs but the league prefer to keep them quiet as a protected species. It's farcical.
As for the mindless morons abusing Dean's family, there needs to be more done to hunt down and prosecute these fools.

Agree with all comments above and original post, Dean and Mason.... wrong decision, proved wrong and their ability must called into question, however death threats and the like are ludicrous and I hope the culprits are rooted out, gives decent (if not frustrated) fans a bad name.

justice that the red card is over turned, full marks to the F.A for doing so, but we all must remember it is only a game of football and we all know passion runs high especially in the moment but to make threats of any sort to any body is totally out of order and as plaistow says i hope the culprits are outed .

Sanity at last, what about Mitrovic getting a red card for his theatrics.VAR and Deans actions should be looked at also, that Deans bloke has lost his way.

Rescinding the red card was not a surprise considering the circumstances. However, football is just a sport. We should all unequivocally condemn the violence and death threats to Dean and his Family. It has no place among our true West Ham fans.
Hope to get Soucek all on fire in the next fixture against Man Utd, and the team and attitude against Aston Villa shows up, takes the game to Man Utd rather than sitting back and trying to hit on a counter attack or set piece.

I agree. Making mistakes is human, but two mistakes in a week and with VAR are absurd. The FA must intervene. I disagree with the threats made to Dean on the Internet, a shameful fact.

and glad it was but to threaten his family is abhorrent, those that did it need to have a hard look at themselves. Just glad that Soucek comes out against Manu and the rest of the team fire as well. Be interested to see who is on as striker because we all know that is going to be our downfall if Ant is not playing.

If you were Dean, would you want to carry on reffing? There are those that would say don't give in to these lowlifes. On the other hand when your family are involved, it is surely another matter?

Why do no ex footballers choose to be referee's once their career's are over? They all want to be pundits, coaches or managers or play until they keel over!
