A trip to the Europa League this season has given West Ham the European bug. On top of that, they are playing more than well enough to realistically challenge for a spot in Europe every year. So, are West Ham now a team that should target Europe every single season?

The latest Premier League betting odds have West Ham at 2.40 on the Betfair Exchange, and should West Ham finish in the top six then they would book another trip into Europe next season. This would be the case regardless of what happens during the remainder of their Europa League campaign.

The Hammers have drawn a lot of plaudits from around the Premier League and continue to show a level of form that could see them in the top six. That has led them to feature regularly in the Premier League football tips that are released each week of the season. On January 21, 2022, West Ham were up to 4th in the Premier League, and while those behind them have games in hand to catch up, The Hammers have points on the board.

West Ham Taking Advantage of Troubles Elsewhere

For many years, the top six appeared to be set, with the two Manchester clubs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal taking those spots in the league, and fighting it out for the top four between themselves.

However, we have seen Tottenham and Arsenal drop off the pace, Manchester United are currently doing the same, and that has given West Ham a chance to shine. Their upturn, and the development of key players, has come at the perfect time for them to take advantage.

Bowen and Rice Driving West Ham Forward

Two English players, one international and one soon to be international, have been the driving force behind much of the success that West Ham have had. Many are tipping Jarrod Bowen to play for England in the very near future, and when you look at his West Ham performances, it is easy to see why.

The second is Declan Rice, an old fashioned type of player who can win a midfield battle but also has the ability to create things moving forward. When West Ham moves from defence to attack, Rice is one of their key transitional players that the play goes through, and a key part of anything and everything during a game.

It is a blast from the past to see West Ham playing well and having English players at the heart of their team, but that is exactly what we have at the moment. In fact, there has been talk of Manchester United trying to sign Rice, with figures of £100 million quoted against him.

Whether he stays or leaves remains to be seen, but if you want to get an indication of how well things are going for West Ham right now, the fact they have a player valued at £100 million should help.

Of course, Hammers fans would love him to stay at the club, and the future looks very bright if he does.
