Hammers supporters of a certain age grew up with the understanding that when a game involving West Ham was labelled a 'six pointer', it was a reference to a game full of jeopardy in which the loser continues their perilous decent into the relegation zone.
In fact it was less than TWO years ago that a six pointer still meant a relegation game, however that has all changed and Hammers are now attempting a top six finish for the second year in a row. The journey from relegation possibles to Europa League probables has been nothing short of amazing under David Moyes, he returns to 'the scene of the crime' tomorrow as he takes his team to Old Trafford for a 'Europa League six pointer'.
What was once an incredibly difficult venue has lost none of its volume, but the team that takes to the field is a shadow of Manchester United teams of the past, so Hammers can go up to Old Trafford knowing that IF they can get the home fans on the back of their team then they could get a result.
Kurt Zouma and Tomas Soucek are on the cusp of returning to the 1st team, but it might just come a bit soon to have both of them back, but at least one of them will probably be back. Säid Benrahma is back with the club but it is a bit of an ask to expect him to play 90 minutes, but such is the paucity of the bench that David Moyes may elect to bring him along just to have a wow factor on the bench, let's face it a totally knackered Benrahma is better than Yarmolenko!
The hosts are not without injury and form issues, so perhaps this game represents a rare opportunity for David `Moyes to attain some form of redemption by showing the home fans what they have missed out on.- Ed
