Surprise Or Expectation?

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sun, 18/05/2025 - 18:21

At 14:15 marked the kickoff for the final home game at the bowl this season, a bright bold start from Potter’s men saw Soucek denied by Sells.

But as a continuing theme this season for us, one mistake is all it takes, all momentum was killed as Areola’s gift for Forest saw them go one up… too late to offer Fabo a contract?

It’ll be surprising to see the Frenchman as number one next season. Mistakes against Spurs, Bournemouth, and now Forest have proven to be costly. Points have been gained through Areola being in goal, but it’s also cost the club many.

The game felt Null and void until Forest got their second, and you’d have probably forgotten that they actually scored by the time the VAR check was over, SIX MINUTES it took for a conclusion! Weren’t the FA bragging about the new offside system and how it would improve games? Alongside the not-so-successful system, you can also thank Barrott for a fantastic refereeing performance, one for the ages, a complete demonstration as to why you don’t trial referees in Premier League matches

The referee may have been abysmal, but yet again the Hammers were far from good today, and it’s another ‘look in the mirror’ performance. Ipswich is now the only game to play and it’s what we’ve all been waiting for: the end of the season in sight and a closure to an underwhelming campaign.

Jarrod Bowen revived the fans’ hope with a superb touch and a crashing volley into the roof of the net, stunning from Bowen, but it would all amount to nothing as we prodded and poked Forest for the remaining 20 minutes, but couldn’t find an equaliser. Shots on target and poor decisions are what closed the game off, and all in all, the fans are just happy to be a game closer to the end.

It’s 7 days until the Ipswich game, and within that timeframe, there’s potential for even worse to happen somehow despite the fact we’re not even playing.

There will be no dramatic change against Ipswich, but who knows, we could still secure a magnificent 14th! Come on West Ham 'United', let’s finish this season on a high.

Talking to my mate today at the game. We both agreed that only Bowen, Wan Bissaka, Kilman & Fullkrug should be the only players retained. Add the likes off Potts, Earthy & Scharles. Obviously there will be more staying as a cull off that magnitude is not practical or realistic. But the likes of Paqueta, Kudas etc for whatever reasons. Simply have failed this season.
What has happened to Scharles? Not been in the squad off late. Is he still having nightmares about Salah?

Really? Not for me thank you. Would rather have Zouma back. Seriously though, I think a Todibo/Aguerd partnership could work with Wan Bissaka on the right. We're bollocked on the left now Cresswell is going and Emerson looks to be leaving and I don't share your enthusiasm for the kids.
I'd love to see Paqueta and Kudus stay myself, with Potter being the one to leave and a manager bought in who could utilise them properly.
Speculation that we are in for Ramsdale could actually make me fall in love with that sh*tshow of a keeper, Areola.

Why did the players walk out with there kids? simple they new not many fans would be staying behind once the game was over.
I have been bombarded with emails and texts from the club about renewing my season ticket with the scary you could be running out of time and missing out along with i could lose my seat if i renew late blah blah blah.
Well sadly i am not renewing my ticket and i know of many others in and around me who are the doing the same they have had enough of the excuses and the rubbish football we have had these past few years.

To many false dawns have seen many fans say enough is enough we don't have a ground we rent you need good eyesight to see the game as the pitch is so bloody far away it is comical and all the while we have the little man and his cohort Brady coming out with one bullshit statement after another well this Girls had enough of dragging her backside over to that dump only to be disappointed time and time again.
Will i miss it? well no is the simple answer i will miss the people in and around me with gallows humour and the daft shit we talked about DURING the game and that tells you all doesn't it but miss the football not at all as we have seen little evidence of that and if the players cannot be arsed or the board why should we fans be?.
Popcorn bloody popcorn tourists away fans amongst home fans a total lack of atmosphere oh how our club has been truly rinsed and is not even a pale shadow of what and who we once were thanks Sullivan thanks Gold Thanks Brady like you care just pack up and sod off to Cardiff and destroy them next.

Sorry boys but i had to get that off my chest and no amount of working out at the gym was going to do it

Totally understand. I went to the game yesterday as a last hurrah for my brother and his mate who have decided enough is enough and not renewing the season ticket in block 227. Knowing how few ST's will be sold getting a ticket next season will be easy and you can pick and choose. Yesterday I was in block 135, view was great but as previously said, lots of popcorn munchers!

In the words of the Forest and all away fans.. We sold our soul for this Shi*hole, we can only look in envy at Arse, Spudz and now the fantastic Everton stadium... even City got it right with the full conversation of the City of Manchester stadium digging up the running track etc.

The club is in self inflicted turmoil. All brought on by the board and their inability to run the club. No Idea where we are going. That is the predicament the board have put us in.

We are now a throw a six to start outfit. No clue. no direction, no aim, no end product.

Ironic that 2 of the best players on show yesterday were Coufal and Cresswell - says it all really.

But I have to be optimistic. Potter will now get his chance to shape the squad. As I've said before I'll judge us after the first 8 games, not before.

But to go back to the original point. The old saying of the jobs fvcked. Really does apply to WHUFC at present thanks to our wonderful owners!!

agree with all that Boogers bar the Potter bit... he will eventually be fired and we will have just lost another window, spent money on lesser players and be fighting relegations. I think next season will be tougher, both Burnley and Leeds are very prem experienced and IMO will survive.

I think it has been touch and go for most supporters this season and I told a lot of my mates (and they told me) that I would not be renewing this season, but in the end when we left the ground we were all saying c u next season. There was a few unanswered questions Yesterday:- Where the fcuk was Danny Inngs Yesterday after stealing a living off WHU not to mention the 125,00 a week, wasn't on the bench and i didn't see him at the parade at the end of the game didn't even have the decency to say goodbye, not like Fab, Coufal and Cress who were really emotional and have been great servants to the club but as for Danny Inngs that arse hole has played an absolute blinder I heard he made 60 appearances for club in that time and has always played below average I remember him getting 2 goals in his 1st season but he had such a brilliant contract we could not get rid of him. And the next question is when is Potter going to STOP playing every goal kick from the back we have been so predictable this season and a lot of the clubs knew this and scored from this tactic from pressing high we have had 3or4 goals scored against us because of this yesterday against the tricky trees I think Friar Tuck their owner could have scored that after Areolas terrible howler, funnily enough how many games have we lost this season from those 1 goal margins. I feel sure I will be saying the same old routine next season, even if we do go down -Once a Hammer always a Hammer but lets hope we have a better season than this one one of the worst I can remember since Avram Grant

In fairness to the keeper he also made some great saves. The defence in front of him is not great.

I dont get VAR... Why is this not just a AI decision? Decisions would be immediate.

Bowen ... Great goal, he's world class!
