After making it to the round of 32, West Ham are officially out of the Carabao Cup after a 3-2 defeat to Fulham because of a late goal from Oscar Bobb, who capitalised on a defensive mistake.
Nuno Espírito Santo has a track record of performing well and putting out stronger squads for the cup competitions, so seeing a fairly strong lineup tonight wasn’t at all surprising.
Unfortunately, three defensive mistakes led to all three of Fulham’s goals, with the first coming through no one tracking the runner in the middle, leaving a certain goal for Muniz.
The second came from the defenders sleeping again - a lack of awareness led to Palacios tapping in a second. Last but not least, Kante unfortunately gave away the ball to substitute Oscar Bobb, who tapped in an almost certain goal.
Despite being knocked out of the Carabao Cup it feels that a sense of misery is absent amongst Hammers fans. Nuno’s side put up a good fight and created numerous scoring opportunities, one of which saw Pablo score his first goal for the club, Pablo! And from a rather tricky angle may I add.
Morato also scored for the Hammers with a clinical header and Taty Castellanos came incredibly close after having a rather tame strike cleared off the line with just a couple of minutes remaining, which could’ve taken the game to penalties which felt like what West Ham deserved.
A tinge of disappointment is underlying as West Ham invited too much pressure onto themselves which is not something that Nuno’s side has been doing in recent weeks, but that is rather anticipated against a Premier League squad side.
It was a great opportunity to enter the Round of 16 and the fight was there tonight! The young Hammers also weren’t battered by any means and quite frankly, Arbeloa should be counting his lucky stars tonight in what has been a disappointing start to his career as a Fulham manager.
Onwards and upwards is the best phrase to live by and all attention focuses towards our final Championship game before the break… away to Millwall.
In other news, due to other results elsewhere, West Ham United also remain at the top of the Championship.

Bit of a wake up call. You can make mistakes in the Chumps league and get away with it but prem level is another case albeit a bottom half prem team.
Given the choice I would prefer a win on Saturday.. lets see

The Moose Cup has gone now and as Boogercaravan Jnr said. Doesn't matter as it will be won by Man City or The Arse. I agree. On to Harry the Dog and friends on Saturday. I shall be driving back from Harrogate on Sat morning as a Birthday treat for tomorrow. RIP Bonzo, shame you cant be here this year to share it with me. I'll raise a glass though!!
