Welsh Wipeout on day out - West Ham United 6-0 Wrexham

At last! It’s been 5263 days since the Hammers scored six goals in a match, mesmerising. It was West Ham’s 6-0 victory over Brighton in 2012 where Vaz Te scored a hat-trick, with a phenomenal acrobatic goal and it was also the season we got promoted… foreshadowing… it can’t be!

Over the past three matches, there’s been a growing feeling that the side has been beginning to bond together and has started to feel as one with each other on the pitch, Nuno has officially brought this side together as one and has topped it off on an emphatic Friday night.

To speak upon all of the goals would trigger a ludicrous word count, but one factor to be discussed is again, seeing the change in mentality from the side, but more importantly, Nuno himself. The Portuguese manager has opted for the approach of working for a goal before controlling the game at a tempo and then working towards another. The group have massively worked on dominating the ball, whereas before, we would score and proceed to defend with our lives, this is a crucial change.

The tactics, the substitutes, and the player performances were absolute perfection.

Kyle Walker-Peters came on for an injured Veltman and proved to be vital, two crucial assists!

The same has to be said for Mohamadou Kante who most recently has been training to play in a more attacking midfield position and he made that training count with a brilliant run in behind and a composed, thumped finish into the back of the net too.

Credit has to be given to Manor Solomon who ran like a dog tonight, the same can be said for Arne Engels who appeared to be everywhere, and Jarrod Bowen.

The defence deserves its praise too, bar a Mavro moment, where he made an error before clearing it off the line, the defence was solid and Wrexham only managed one shot on target, another total domination.

Every player on the pitch could be discussed but we’d be here all day. It’s a phenomenal result and one that puts the Hammers back to the top of the table with four wins in a row, that last happened back in November 2021.

With the Hammers earning 12 points in the last four games, it’s certainly the form all fans could hope for and with a phantasmagorical performance as such, what else could one begin to fathom for?
