It was common knowledge that West Ham would have to sell in the summer regardless of whether they stayed in the Premier League or were relegated to the Championship, and it was quickly configured that the Hammers would need to make over £150m in player sales to bolster their financial status.
This is all commonly known information but crucially, this was the information we had pre-Daniel Kretinsky takeover, meaning nobody factored money being put into the club as part of the equation, as that’s something David Sullivan wouldn’t have even fathomed doing.
Whilst the papers haven’t officially been released, West Ham have, in fact, had £90m, the maximum amount, put into the club by Daniel Kretinsky. The player sales of Mateus Fernandes warranted an additional £85m, though Southampton make £6.5m due to clauses, meaning £78.5m was inherited for the transfer.
That already totals £168.5m before the sale of Summerville, meaning that £150m that needed to be raised has already been achieved, hence the club's comfort level to not panic sell. The flip side is that Kretinsky is a businessman and of course, that “excess” £16.5m isn’t enough to work with, hence why the sale of Crysencio Summerville will essentially fund all required transfer activity in this window.
Presuming Summerville accepts his move to Al-Hilal, West Ham will have £71.5m guaranteed, with a possibility of an extra £5m to spend. That would be enough to fund the summer and bolster the squad in winter if required. Not to mention, these equations aren’t factoring in any other exits that will happen.
It’s frustrating that other Championship clubs are seemingly jumping ahead of West Ham with incomings, but it’s evident to see that there’s method behind the activity and it doesn’t mirror the classic DS tactics of waiting until the last minute.
The club are operating in a much more efficient way, one that will be beneficial for the future financially and one that will still see Nuno be given the players needed, it just might take a little time but it’s definitely going to happen.

About our transfer deals and nothing in the headlines other than outgoings i feel quite calm about the whole deal...slowly and methodically DK has been restructuring the club and doing it the right way by getting the right people in the right place to do the job they are tasked with.
So whilst we are not hearing daily about this player that player and speculation on top of speculation DK and the new team will let those who think they no keep on writing/filming page after page about this player that player providing a very nice smokescreen while business is being done elsewhere.....Quality rather than quantity is needed so not jumping in feet first just because some other club wants the same player makes a change....The days of that stupid tart and the dwarf doing deals and wrecking the club are long gone so let us judge as Boogers mentions when the window shuts in September.
