The West Ham Shuffle

West Ham United are anticipating a significant shuffle up in both the staff and player departments this transfer window.

However, with the World Cup ongoing, player developments are looking bleak and bar a few free transfer rumours running around, it looks inevitable that the staff focus would take priority, which it has.

Daniel Kretinsky has aimed to reshuffle his backroom staff, with the first of what we believe to be many new additions to the club, with ‘Director of Transfers’ now being fulfilled by Nils Koppen, currently at FC Copenhagen and a former employee of both Rangers and PSV.

His name was initially sparked around being a Director of Football, but clarity has since emerged, and IF he is to join West Ham, he will be primarily focused on signings and working with Nuno.

It should be said that during this process of identifying who should fulfil this role. Kretinsky has worked alongside Nuno Espírito Santo in deciding who should take the role, subsequently meaning we shouldn’t be seeing any conflict between the two, as we have done previously with other individuals & managers.

You’d also hope that during the interview process it was mentioned that Jorge Mendes’ clients will likely be signed; let’s hope a list is already drawn up!

Nils Koppen’s wedge between putting pen to paper at West Ham at the moment is the minute final details as well as a pending work permit.

It is thought that Nils could be the final addition to the boardroom staff, but Nuno is expected to add to his backroom team, with Paco’s future in limbo.

Slow developments, but by July 1st, chaos will all emerge.
