West Ham were today poised to complete the signing of winger Gokhan Tore on loan from Besiktas.

The Hammers were confident of signing the 24-year-old Tore subject to a medical, following an exhaustive sequence of negotiations with Besiktas, formerly managed by Slaven Bilic.

It looked for a time that West Ham were going to miss out on Tore but Bilic, who rates the Turkish international highly after working with him at Besiktas, remained determined to land his man.

Tore, who had a spell at Chelsea as a young player but failed to make a competitive first team appearance, is West Ham’s third summer signing, following Norwegian international Havard Nordtveit, who joined the club as a free agent from Borussia Monchengladbach and Sofiane Feghouli, who signed on a free transfer from Valencia.
