By the middle of June this year, we will be able to retire the over used and hackneyed Michael Mc Donald inspired "Yarmo be there" copy line once and for all as Andriy Yarmolenko shuffles back home to a war zone and begins to worry about where he stores the 'nest egg' he has squirrelled away while earning just shy of £6 Million per year for the last FOUR YEARS!
In a way it is rather apt that some of our younger readers will have absolutely no idea what Yarmo be there is about, the song has had it's day, just like Yarmolenko has had his day(s) at West Ham. Yesterday just about summed up his tenure in the East End, demoted to the U-23's the Ukraine captain scored the only and winning goal of the game before being completely unfairly dismissed for 'elbowing' an opponent.
The Ref was as trigger happy as a state guard and was according to one Hammers insider "just itching to pull out a red card", Yarmelenko smiled in bemusement at his dismissal and sauntered off the pitch for what will be one of his final performances in the Claret & Blue.
Yarmo is still a hero in the Ukraine, perhaps NOW is the time for him to go home, but we wouldn't want to ave him next to us in the metaphorical trenches! -ED
