Australian pop group The Easybeats had a 'massive' hit with their song "Friday On My Mind" which was covered by David Bowie on his Pin Ups album, most people think Mr Jones wrote the song, but it was actually written by George Redburn Young and Harry Vanda from Sydney in New South Wales, Australia.
"Today, I might be mad, Tomorrow, I'll be glad 'Cause I'll have Friday on my mind. I spend my bread I lose my head I've got to get tonight, I have Friday on my mind". This Friday coming the Balloon goes up at the opening of what will be the first 'proper' transfer window since the Covid Pandemic struck.
As such there is bound to be a degree of frenetic activity as the 'big clubs' attempt to lure other clubs' best players with big transfer payments or massive signing on fees if they are available on a 'free' transfer. The wages on offer are also going to hit the roof as clubs try to outbid each other, much to the delight of football agents around the Globe, particularly those in Europe, especially those in England!
No one appears to know exactly where West Ham stand in the player acquisition stakes at the club itself, let alone the media. As is usual Hammers have been linked with a plethora of players, some attainable, others 'never in a month of Sundays', unfortunately the latter seems to be a more apt description!
Surely the penny must have dropped at board level that another window of little or NO inbound transfer activity seriously threatens to undermine all the progress BOTH on and off the field the club has made over the last couple of seasons, including the engagement of the club's long suffering fans who finally found themselves with something to cheer about in a Stadium that, while not actually fit for purpose, has finally started to become something more like a 'home'!
Having had their fingers well and truly incinerated in the past, the Board have become 'reluctant millionaires' in their pursuit of players, but at some point they have to bite the bullet, put their hands in their pockets and stump up! There is no point in saying we tried but failed regarding transfers, IF a player is not willing to come to the club, then move on.
Friday WILL be on every fans' minds, it is time the board poked their heads above the parapet and adopted a 'buy brave' philosophy, it might backfire, but then again it might succeed. To which we could add a cricketing tongue twister as a message to GSB, "be bold board, baulk body balls, but bash bouncing balls bravely! Go and bash some balls board! - ED

then we are doomed!! but seriously i like many others on here have our fingers crossed that Newman and Moyes have done there due diligence on all manner of players and push on and get our number one targets regardless of the other teams attempting to sign them as well....We are always told we are a Big club so about time we started acting that way.....i just hope that Moyes is not blinded with his infatuation of signing Lingard and on stupid wages.
