Are Toon The New Spuds?

For years every transfer window served to remind West Ham fans just how little investment there was being made in the club, as opposed to it's London neighbours. Virtually every time Hammers showed an interest in a player and it became public, either one or other of Arsenal, Chelsea or especially 'Tottingham' instantly showed an interest in said player.

The result invariably being that the player would be 'distracted' from signing for West Ham or his club or agent would up his transfer fees and wages, the price hike blowing Hammers usual low ball bids clean out of the water! The bad blood that exists between Gold & Sullivan and Daniel Levy is well known and the Tottingham supremo HAS gone out of his way to make life difficult for the 'Brady Bunch' at every opportunity.

Under the direct instructions of Levy his 'operatives' have mischievously muddied the transfer water highly successfully on numerous occasions, he also ensured not even one of his peripheral players could be loaned out to West Ham despite it costing his club money.

Anyway, there is a new kid on the block now, or a Newcastle to be precise but they don't try to hijack Hammers moves out of spite or resentment, they just know that The Irons head of recruitment Rob Newman has an astonishing track record and so ANY player he is interested in is worth pursuing as well.

The issue for David Moyes is that even if he and the club keep their negotiations secret, once they have shown their hand the player's agent or selling club can then use Hammers interest to create a bidding war. This is EXACTLY what is happening with regards to Newcastle's proposed transfer activity, it is NOT just West Ham who are likely to miss out on their targets, but a host of other clubs will see the price of their targets suddenly going through the roof!

Of course a club that acquires new owners that are ridiculously wealthy is NOT a new occurrence, Chelsea and more recently Manchester City have shown that FFP might as well stand for 'Free For Pariahs' when it comes to the ability to gazzump other clubs. Newcastle are technically the wealthiest club in World football and as such WILL have 'advisors' who will help them navigate through the unfit for purpose regulations that are currently in place.

It seems the only way clubs will be able to prevent being 'Tooned' is by insisting on Non Declaration Agreements once they have begun negotiations, but money talks and loyalty walks, especially among football agents! Alphonse Areola is supposedly now on Eddie 'how many players can I sign' Howe's shopping list, Irons fans will be furious if the club's procrastination regarding making Areola's loan move permanent leads to him ending up at St James' Park. - Ed

I don’t care about who we are interested in signing. All I want to hear is, we have signed this player or that. Keep your cards close to your chest. There’s a saying in poker that if you sit down at the table and you don’t know who the patsy is, it’s you.

How long will it be before we hear that cry from the boardroom? and yet it does not seem to worry other clubs....the idea of it all is to make a level playing field yet everyone and anyone knows thats a load of Bo**ox so the barcodes will buy who they want no matter the cost and FFP whats that!

Not that I'm particularly bothered, but I see the Barcodes having a revolving door for a while. For instance Chris Wood, I see him on his bike this window and he's just come in.

Oi big boy, what's your name?

We are absolutely desperate for players. On our knees. After the calamitous fuck up in January surely Newman & Moyes have players in mind? Why has Areola not been signed? What doubts can they have about him? What's happened to this Morrocan defender? We was almost over the line with him. It's like they identify, agree everything and just before they sign someone they decide to look for a cheaper alternative.
Now i'm really not happy about some of the stuff i'm reading. Yes a lot of it is speculation & bullshit. But some there is no smoke without fire. Why is Perkins even being talked about being allowed to leave? This kid should have been given a run. Watch him go to Leeds & bang in 15 goals next season.
1 possibly 2 players should have been through the door already considering what we need. I really hope we don't move backwards as Villa have played a blinder already and Newcastle will be challenging.

Surely we send out a few dummy enquiries to clubs regarding their available players to set the smoke alarms off...then we find out who we need to keep the information from...as soon as they are sussed they get outed the dirty MOFO's...I think we need to uncover more lower league gems like Antonio and Jarrod...not forgetting Les Dawson of course...thinking Vlasic and Kral will be on their way which is quite sad as they both looked promising on YouTube ! ! !
I was wondering where the Brighton LB was going but think he'll be talking like a geordie soon enough, mun...
Where does FFP actually come into force (probably wrong word as I'm guessing there is no 'force' per se) with the top 6 spenders...?
Not sure why its there or what it's doing for the game, a bit like...erm, nah, we'll the pandemic off the forum, eh...! ! !
