A New Beginning? - Ownership News Revealed

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Thu, 03/09/2026 - 18:13

The deadline is upon us - the news is out! West Ham’s ownership has seen a change, and one perhaps many didn’t anticipate. It has now been said that Daniel Kretinsky will officially become West Ham United’s largest shareholder.

It appears that Daniel Kretinsky has increased his stake to 46%, with David Sullivan increasing his to 40% and Trip Smith’s rising to 11%, with the remaining 3% taken by other minor investors.

Quick-eyed folks would’ve noticed that David Sullivan has increased his stake in West Ham. Yes, he has. However, it marks the beginning of the end. David Sullivan, despite increasing his stake, has officially lost his power at West Ham and has taken the opportunity to buy a stake at a lower price, subsequently allowing him to sell for more in the future.

It is important to note that Daniel Kretinsky can’t have bought more than 50% of the club, as it would’ve triggered a clause meaning he’d have had to pay an inflated fee to David Sullivan to own the remainder of the club.

The power within the club will now lie with the Czech billionaire himself; however, the complications do not stop there.

Combining David Sullivan’s stake and Trip Smith’s gets you 51%… a majority. Someone could theoretically come in and purchase the 51% of the club to have a majority; however, that would then trigger another buy window, where all shares could once again change hands.

Should Amanda Stavely decide to purchase the 51% available, Daniel Kretinsky could theoretically purchase just 3% more, and his business buddy, Havrland, could purchase 1.1% to give them a majority… meaning it’s almost impossible for another majority holder, other than Daniel Kretinsky. That is assuming that Kretinsky does want to hold a majority share. - Otherwise, he would simply opt not to take more, allowing another party (Staveley) to come in and hold a majority.

David Sullivan will only sell his shares upon the club's return to the Premier League, and as Kretinsky doesn’t want to pay an inflated price, it appears it’ll be another waiting game before the next set of cards is placed on the table.

Amongst the chaos, the closing message is that Daniel Kretinsky is the new majority shareholder of West Ham United.

As a self confessed neanderthal I have to say, all this willy waving means nothing to me. All I care about is Saturday, Tuesday, and not having a nonse at the helm. I love my club, unfortunately, that means I have to love all the shit that comes with it!

Could be the most depressing day since Sullivan ruined the last depressing day! The dirty little dwarf is gonna drag West Ham's name through the mud until the day he dies.

I'm wondering what would happen if nothing comes of sullivans investigations i can see him worming his way back in because Kresinsky wanted backing for sullivan to step down then he is dealing with him you can't trust any of them.
