so we have made a great start to the season but being west ham not everybody is happy...we won at places unheard of but failing at home but here we are 3rd in the table but the grumbling around me in the stbl lower on Saturday was to me very annoying and surprising....even heard one guy call bilic clueless unbelieveable......if the results had gone as we all thought they would i.e lose those 3 remarkable victories away from home and replace them with 3 home wins would he have been happier? well from the way he was bitching I guess he would....don't ask me why people are like that because I cannot understand it....yes we are playing poor at home but nothing that cannot be changed.....and I have no doubt bilic and his staff will get it right as we have seen vast improvement on last season.
so the question is what would you change about the team to spark better performances at home? personally I would ask the team to play at least 10/15 yards up the pitch as we seem to be sitting to far back and so the opposition has more space and less pressure in there own half so they have time to get there heads up and play the ball easier...also I would try and get another striker on and play 442 is that to simple? or would it be the answer? I have deliberately not mentioned players who should or should not start as we all have our own views on that so what would you do?

We have a problem of just handing goals to the opposition at home.
Bilic is not clueless as one fan you mentioned was claiming mcbikeman, he is a decent manager as our recent form indicates
Maybe playing at home is a bit too stressful for some of the players so a smaller home crowd might help, never gonna happen.

3rd in the league and some idiots are moaning, it's ridiculous. how are those morons gonna react when we actually have a bad run?
I'm not sure we need to change too much, we just need to find a way to open teams up at home, without also becoming more vulnerable at the back -- easier said than done! But we are only 7 games into the new season, players take time to get to know one another's games. I look forward to Song being available, and just hope he can get back to the form of the first few months of last season. Song, Payet, Moses, Sakho combo could be amazing!

I think it's quite simple,

I think it's quite simple, show the same desire at home that we've shown away against the big boys, for me the tempo seems too relaxed at home, it's almost training ground pace at times, the away side sees too much of the ball and settles into the game too easily, being the home side I think we need to take the game to the opposition more, impose our game, close them down quicker and cut out these stupid mistakes, again I think these mistakes are happening because the attitude at home is too casual

My thoughts exactly chippy, I was very surprised how slow we started against Norwich also looked like we were reacting rather than acting. Spot on about a training game. Lots of gaps to play through us and no real attempt to get at em. Plus we probably need 2 up front. This gives us more outlets upfront and pressures defenders so they can't build from the back. id go sakho and jelavic but only for home games against the smaller teams. Might be worth playing Antonio too. Maybe 3,5,2? Reid, ogbonna, Tomkins, Payet , kouyate, obiang cresswell and Moses, sakho, jelavic

I thought a few weeks ago

I thought a few weeks ago about playing 3 at the back, our best defenders are Reid, Tomkins and Ogbonna, Jenkinson and Cresswell don't fill me full of confidence when they're doing their defensive duties so I was thinking of a 3-4-2-1 type formation, 2 holding midfielders, 2 wide and then someone either alongside Payet or 2 up front, I think at home this would make us play more in their half

Playing 3 at the back and 2 def midfielders would give us a strong back bone but will also play cresswell on a more attacking role which he is clearly more suited to, and maybe a better quality cross coming in. It will also allow us to keep Payet in the hole his most effective position. If we play 442 then Payet either shouldn't play, which at the moment unthinkable or he plays on the wing which is a waste Imo.

I think Zarate was born to play as Sakho 's partner up front , you cant expect to play our natural game on the break with him up there on his own ,gota get bodys in the box

Bilic has made big

Bilic has made big improvements overall ,3rd place in the premiership speaks for itself.Sure, the team have ridden their luck at times in matches, but the quality of football,no one can deny is far more entertaining.The pace that Bilic has introduced into the side, has enabled him to play a fast counter-attacking game,playing to the strengths of the side.Against the top sides, it worked a treat away from home ,the system allows for absorbing the pressure the opposition exerts with plenty of men behind the ball and then catching them on the break,but the consequence of that system is that is concedes a lot of possession.Thats fine against the top sides ,we would expect that,I have no gripes.But to see the same system being used against lesser sides,particularly in the home matches where the weaker opposition is allowed to dictate play, as the team sits deep,is where I question.However,against Leicester at home in the league ,Westham dominated possession but lost ,so it's not the counter-attack system that is the issue,but more of a pressing issue.Like you state, mcbikeman :" I would ask the team to play at least 10/15 yards up the pitch as we seem to be sitting to far back and so the opposition has more space and less pressure in there own half so they have time to get there heads up and play the ball easier.." is key to the problem,I have noticed that in a lot of the home games ,where the opposition start controlling the midfield. Sunderland's Dick Advocaat will be looking to be doing exactly the same thing with his side, if Westham don't press enough and put pressure on the opposition higher up the pitch,especially in the early part of the game where the team have been conceding goals,then Sunderland will punish us.If we get some early goals ,I think this Sunderland side will cave in ,as their confidence is shot.
