Valencia and Other Forwards

I'm not a fan of Valencia and think he is too lightweight as a forward in the UK. The Bristol City game was evidence enough to see how easy he was knocked off the ball and doesn't cope with physical side of the game. Add to that the lack of goals, and lack of movement off the ball in recent games, leads me to believe that if Chelski did really want to sign him then I would be very happy for us to get the £15-20m as quoted. Your views to a £12-15m signing with no proven statistics in a league comparable to the Premier League? And BFS went public to admit he wanted Carroll over Bony so why are we so bad at signing decent forwards? It's been annoying me for weeks, the thought of the absolute rubbish that BFS has bought in terms of attacking players and for paying over the odds. Do you agree? Sakho was a board signing and not BFS, so does this prove his lack of attacking ability as a manager?

I think this is in his makeup to only look at established players rather than looking at potential risky players. He's always been a take no risk manager. Look at the way he was falling over himself to sign Darren Fletcher. now if there's one thing we don't need it's a slow, non-creative workshorse. We already have a couple of them but he's played for Man U so Sam see's it as a safe option. Valencia was probably a risk and I think it's too early to say he's a failure. He's shown some good touches but seems to want to hold onto the ball too much and beat one too many opposition players and I think this has affected his goal tally. If there was more creativity in midfiled then he'd probably only need to find a bit of space to get a shot off.

Back in the "old days" well before the Premier League, I always used to have this rule of thumb: that players from Europe needed half a season to prove themselves, and players from outside the continent probably needed a full season before they could be properly judged in British football. I'm gonna stick with that thought, and won't judge Valencia until May. I believe he has a lot of talent, and now that Carroll is out (AGAIN!!) we will hopefully see a run of games featuring the "dangerous twins! He hasn't had very much, or very good, service recently. He ISN'T a dribbler or a winger, he is a goal-scorer. We need to put him in the position to be able to have attempts on goal, NOT expect him to be able to dribble from the halfway line and score. Create enough chances (which we haven't really done lately) and I think he will put away a good percentage.

I don't know who chose who in the summer, I do know it was easily the best transfer window I can ever remember.

I don't think Valencia's that bad ANTKB, his time will come. I thought he started the season brightly and was merely overshadowed by an outstanding Sakho. As Carroll came back into the team he and Sakho seem to have lost their initial momentum. Valencia more so. However, he has shown glimpses of greatness in his games for us and just needs to become a little more consistent and adjust to the physical nature of English football. But if the rumours of Mourinho being interested are true, then it shows that he must have something about him (he's no Maiga then is he?). I think Valnecia will start to get back to form now Carroll is out and he and Sakho will link up well together again. I think we'll see a little more from him and that he will finish the season well. Then with a full pre season under his belt and a little more time in the UK we should see more from him next season too.

He will be a 20 goal a season player. Its all about playing your players in the right position and with the supporting players also playing in their right position. He won't have the West Ham injury curse to worry about either.

Me and my son have been saying it all season that he is to lightweight, Liverpool away was the worst. If he put on weight would loose speed, and under 5 goal return is not premiership quality, but 2 goals he did get were top drawer. Maybe now he will get a good run with AC out and he can come good, as it stands now though I would of cashed in.

I'm sure superman will come good in the end I'm hoping sakho can get back to his best after his back injury also. Him and Valencia could have forged a great strike partnership by now as indicated by their performances in the first couple of months,i wouldn't like to see Valencia go to chelski and start banging em in for fun that's for sure!
