The Argentinian attacking midfielder 'Manuel Lanzini' has apparently signed on loan for a year from Al Jazira. How many more will be coming and who do you think we will now sell?
I still want to see a proper replacement for Downing, a Mirallas level type player. And it seems they are determined to get another striker, just hope he is top level too, and not a Borini/Balotelli type. Can't see Jarvis, Maiga, or Nolan being here much longer
I'm with you Bully and can't wait to see the backs of those three. I'm quite sure the 2 Dave's will have a couple more signings in their sights, but what I am liking is the young guns are being used rather unsparingly during the pre-season and European games; most refreshing and encouraging. COYI
Yeah, I think a few people were annoyed that it was only development players last night, and that Colchester were charging 15 quid. But the young lads will learn much more playing even a Div1 side than they will playing other youngsters.
BUT how much more money is left to play with? If we can do it then these 2 premiership players will finish off our purchases required. And I will be ectastically excited for next season!!
I would like the statement of intent that made but both have injury records, Mirallas seems to come with some baggage while Austin still seems a lot of money based around one excellent season.
I think it is quite telling that nobody has stumped up yet. Strikers are at a premium, 15 million is within the budget of many Premier League clubs these days but people are holding fire. I wonder if other clubs have concerns?
Mirallas (8 mill quid) , Cambiasso ( freebie, bags of exp, Song seems like too much of a risk with his injury) and Austin (10 mill quid + Nolan and Jarvis).
Can't see us spending another 18 mill pounds myself though. But would love those 3 in. All of them played PL football last term so hopefully they will settle in and hit the ground running.
Hendrie (£1m)
Randolph (free)
Obiang (£4.5m)
Payet (£10.6m)
Samuelsen (free)
Ogbonna (£7.9m)
Jenko (loan - £2m)
Lanzini (loan).... Total spent so far adds up to about £20.8m, because Ogbonna fee is spread over three years but About £15.8m given the Downing sale, pretty good going so far with the £25 mil budget that was mentioned, but if it's £50 mil ? as rumoured we should be more than capable to get such players on board
If we can get players for free/loan, I would still like Song on board long term, then why spend what you don't have to? I still think we will have another £10-15m signing as a striker, but I agree that £15m for Charlie Austin is too much in my opinion.
Mirallas is a quality player and so is Cambiasso for 1-2 seasons, gives us the strength in depth that we need to push upwards. Have to get rid of Nolan, Maiga, Jarvis at least!
