As this post is inspired by his "what happened to this site" post. I risk being outcast as I was when I suggested that Bobby Moore was not the massaiah and just for one week we really should let him rest in peace and try not to ( for one week) try and out do one another in our admiration of him, using progressively longer words, and In some way the more we worship him makes us bigger and better WH supporters, giving heavier weight and credibility in future posts. A ridiculous and pius notion!

InSpired by Turk (see how I am trying to deflect some hatred) I am suggesting to cut a few players. Players that have been whispered in other posts but put front and center in this one. So let's get the blood boiling on this site. I fee like such a turncoat mentioning the players below... I expect loyalty from players so where is my loyalty to them?

Mark Nobel. Is a perm player but not top ten or European player.
Carlton Cole. Loyal, took a pay cut, nice guy, put ego aside to come back. But not fit for Sunday league.
Kevin Nolan. Left the prem to join us, got us back in the prem, and love the chicken! But that chicken dance is as rare as a dodo!
Big Sam. Done everything we have asked him to do in terms of promotion, getting stability, then what looks like a top ten Finnish. But yet feel my loyalty and frustration dropping points in overtime was too frequent.
Ok I kmow I will get some support with most of above but let's hear your thoughts on Nobel !!

Mark's a tough one for me. I love his desire and loyalty playing for West Ham but must admit that more often than not when watching him on the box my comments aren't suitable for young ears. Has no pace which when you need to get past even one opposition midfielder is pretty important as the gap behind him is where you need to look up and deliver the final ball. Now in Nobes case he realises he doesn't possess this ability which 9/10 results in a backwards or sideways pass. Slows any possible momentum and always the opposition time to regroup. Rarely scores and if you're honest his only goals really come from penalties. We've had two this season and he has a 50% success rate. Doesn't seem to be able to beat the first man on corners very often wasting a set piece. I think he is almost carried in midfield because of the passion he shows and has some leadership qualities. Unfortunately pair him with Nolan in the middle and you're basically eliminating winning the midfield battle straight away unless the opposition are very poor themselves.
If we can get a couple of very good midfielders over the summer then with Poyet hopefully finally getting some game time in Sam's absence then he's an impact sub for me.
oh and Florida good to see you on here. Your ongoing absence was noted!
Agree on CC, KN, SA. None of them have the tools to take us forwards. IMO for what it's worth.

Totally totally concur moore. In the modern day game pace is ALL IMPORTANT. If not of foot then of mind. He has neither. This renders him almost obsolete in what is required at the top level for todays game. 40 years ago when football was played in varying mudbaths around the place his sliding tackle/kick anything that moves inabilities might have got some credence. Not any more. Its box to box (for 90 mins and beyond) or eye of a needle pass in a split second to open up very tight and well organised defences that are the order of the day. Those that cant do either are playing their football at the very lower levels of the game (which sadly is where Marky should be)!!! If you look at him anytime after about the hour mark in the game he is really toiling physical wise by then. Hes usually resorting to lunging, scything tackles (usually resulting in fouls being awarded to the opposition thus losing us what little possesion we have continually)!!! THERES A REASON why West Ham continually fail to see home games they have maybe taken the lead in earlier in the game. THERES A REASON we rarely (if ever) finish a game the stronger team)!! its not all Nobles fault of course......but when your central midfielder is out on his feet long long before the final whistle it certainly doesnt help!!! Worryingly hes been given a new 5 year deal which will see him lumber into what will undoubtedly (ala Nolan) become an even slower phase of his career!! Unless somebody new comes to the helm and has the bottle to say " eh thanks for the efforts Mark but your not exactly what I want in a player" then I fear for our midfield (continually stifling Poyet etc). Even IF a new manager comes in then I wonder what that means. IM ASSUMING that IF Allardyce is not offerede a new contract then it must have been G and S who autherised/instigated the new deal for Noble. could you then have a scenario where a new manager comes in and they are told "you have to play him as hes our captain/vice captain and we have recently given him a new deal" thus forcing a new manger to play a playe rhe doesnt want?! God forbid that scenario!! you could never have faulted his "efforts" in our colours. Loyal (but then again a lot of people would be loyal if somebody was waving a huge paycheck at us and nobody else was prepared to match it far less improve it) yes. Commited yes. But "fit for purpose"?! a testimonial to have "rewarded" him for his efforts and move on (for both parties) would have been optimum for me.

The biggest issue i have with the whole backwards and sideways passing comment is that its statistically proven its not the case and yet the same thing he gets labelled with. What the post fails to mention is how can he play the killer passes everybody wants without the movement? What I constantly see is Noble recieving the ball more then any other player because hes one of the few in our team not afraid to have the ball then he looks up and waits for someone to move and in the end the movement never comes so hes resorted to play the short simple passes more. At the beginning of the season he was one of our best players and was playing some superb passes. Ye he has weaknesses but his strengths in my opinion outweigh his weaknesses when the team play attacking football. It's silly that other teams and other pundits rate Noble more then half our fan base.

I tend to agree about Noble, we all know his plus points, but we tend to shy away from criticising his minus points because he is 'West Ham through and through.' If we are to seriously challenge the top 6 or 7 in the next few years, I don't see Mark as a starter: he isn't top half PL quality, and have never agreed with those who think he should be playing for England, he is well below international class. That also make it difficult to see him as our next captain (he is also a bit hot-headed), because Kevin Nolan is sadly well past it now. I think they should make Reidy captain, he is a bit too quiet for the job, but maybe the responsibility will make him step up.

Maybe I will give a little more slack to Noble as he truly tries I just do not think he is all that good but as Fred has said It may be to do with what he is allowed to do by players around him and the style we play, I also think that because he is a local lad we can sometimes be guilty of giving him less stick than the others and of not watching him close enough though he is definitely the best of the ones you mentioned.
Ill take the blame mate as long as people keep posting threads ill happily take the blame, ha.

Turk When I read your post it was exactly what I was thinking too. The site had lost desire and strong points of view.. Maybe when that 'email' goes out it will improve. As per above comments people on here are very knowledgable about all things west ham, and made it a great site. Let hope they all come back.. with others.. Top ten finish !!

I am fairly new to this site 4 years, there must be people from further back too who still have not returned.

I only had a moan because I felt that this had become an AWOL Site and that most must have been going to other sites or happily not posting at all.

Anyway we will wait and see.
