The Ghost Of Bobby Moore!

It's said in dead of night time
As darkness fills East End
A blond haired man
Who never ran
But knew how to defend
Strolls around the Boleyn
As he did in days of yore
This blonde haired man
To all West Ham fans
Was known as Bobby Moore!

He took them to the zenith
Of European cup
As Munich 1860
Just weren't good enough!

Oh by the way
Jules Rimet shook his godly hand
As England beat those Germans
Exactly like Alf planned!

As Bobby and the other two
Came up from junior ranks
To scale heights and sites so dizzy
To West Ham we offer thanks!

So as night draws in
Around Boleyn
A blonde hero sports a smile
His memory will never leave us
It'll be here for quite a while!

I remember going to the Wolves game in 1993 and Hurst and Peters bringing out that Number 6 Claret and blue wreath. Hard to imagine it was 23 years ago. RIP Bobby one of the all time greats,

Well done m6. I'm sure you have heard it all before but probably the big reason I supported West Ham. Poster on the wall and did p.e in a shirt blazoned with the number 6. I don't remember but mum says that's all I was going on about.

I'll never forget the day,one sunny afternoon in 96,i was over the City of London Cemetery,Gardens of Remembrance, with me wife and kids, paying respects as we always do,to my wifes mum and dad,my wifes mums ashes are scattered around the waterfull pond there. while paying our respects a groundsman came over to chat with us. making small talk about the pond and the many famous faces he has seen over there in the entertainment business of those that had passed! anyway he then turned and said I have to get on now as I have to attend to old big heads grave . I said oh yeah who is that not knowing what the f*ck he was talking about. he said OBE bobby moore .I said your joking, as there was rumours that he was buried in wandworth where he died. he said no he is just over here .Well I nearly fell in the pond. I couldn't believe how close he was to where my mother-in-law was, just a stones throw away,i went to his grave, and just couldn't believe what I was seeing, standing at the foot of our west ham god.

And the rest make up stories.
I find those that say nothing about him have the most interesting stories.
