Do the Hammers hold the key to English World Cup glory?

Submitted by Enfieldhammer on Thu, 13/10/2022 - 15:07

Was discussing the upcoming World Cup & England's chances plus the concern of the frailty of our back line. In previous tournaments we were lucky to have the likes of Moore, Charlton, Watson, Butcher, Thompson, Adams, Terry to name a few. A luxury not afforded to us now. For me the best English Centre Half over the past 2 years has easily been our Craig Dawson. How he has not made the squad is a massive travisty. And who better to play alongside him? None other than Declan Rice. These 2 are much better than the current shower of Maguire, Stones, Coady, Dier, Mings and who else you care to name. Thoughts please Ladies & Gentleman.

Think that says much about our chances....but it the first World cup i have to say that does not interest me...Whether thats because of the time of the year its being played or where i am just not enthused by it.

Way better than the likes of Dier,Maguire etc.
I think England will struggle to get out of their group, only good thing about it imo is the country are allowed to show a bit of patriotism for a few weeks!!

Enfield, as Bukie says, a bit early for this, have you got your xmas decs up too?
I remembered this little snippet from 2016 and was amazed I found it but do well remember the plan Dyke had for England when he took over the FA.
"Greg Clarke, the new chairman of the Football Association, has scrapped a goal for England to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup set by his predecessor Greg Dyke. The statement was made by former chairman, Dyke, in 2013. He also suggested the Three Lions should make the semi-final at the 2020 UEFA European Championship as part of their development. However, Clarke has stated there are no longer such lofty ambitions.
“I’m not going to put pressure on and say we are going to win this tournament or that tournament,” he said.
And here we are with yet another manager whose loyalty to underpoerforming players will once again result in England failing miserably.
that's one reason I won't be dragging my arse out of bed at some ungodly hour to watch them. The other is FIFA themselves. This organisation cares so little and by that I mena fuck all for the actual fans of the game that I generally refuse to watch any international football nowadays
