If we got this 'ambitious manager' Along with 4 high quality signings Where on the scale would you sit?
That we could have a good year in our final Boleyn campaign?
Or do you believe Europe will ultimately end in the biggest ground in the championship (to give you two ends of the rictascale)

With West Ham you truly never know! I too worry about the extra games. The new manager will have to use the squad and young players wisely, and perhaps in a way that not all agree with.

were in the doggy doo darrs when there's a few injuries and unlike other team we always seem to get long term injuries,

I'd love us to do well but we all know what happens at West Ham.

Blimey, Big Sam was knocked for not taking cup competitions seriously as his aim was always the Premier League and he was told that was not the West Ham way. We are a club that needs to try and win every game we play.

Well it seems that doesn't include the UEFA cup right now for most fans as most of you couldn't give a monkeys. A bit of European football for our last season at Upton Park sounds like a great chance. Who are we to turn our nose up at an established competition that we have a decent history with, so I say let's give it a go!

Honestly I think fatigue has to play a part because they run a hell of a lot now, after a few days is when fatigue sets in you need a bigger squad to play more games.

I agree DITM look at the likes of Messi, Ronaldo iniesta and Xavi, they all play 60+ games a season without moaning about tiredness. If anything playing so many games is what helped them become so good.

I agree with the sentiment that professional footballers REALLY ought to be able to play 2 games a week. Maybe we should adopt the winter break system that the other leagues have? Maybe our post Christmas collapse might not have happened if the players had had 2 weeks off rather than 5 games in 2 weeks?? What do people think?

I think the theory is (I'm playing Devil's Advocate here) that the break is as much psychological as physical; that a fortnight off gives players time to recharge the batteries, and psyche themselves up for the second half of the season. The top teams are considered to need it less because of their large high quality squads. I dunno, but if the Spanish, the Germans, the French, and the Italians all do it, might there not be something in it?

I'm not saying no thanks I'm saying we need a bigger squad. We don't have enough strength in depth especially as championship club have upped there game in recent years. truth is Spanish leagues are used to a lot more games but have ALOT more players, I'm not convinced were equipped to deal with challenging both.

I see no reason that Europe should affect early season form in fact enhance it as friendlies are replaced by competitive matches this is of course providing we don't get a spate of injuries to key players. The latter part of the season is where it tells most, if successful and The Hammers make the group stage that's 12 competitive matches extra so some sound judgement regards player recruitment needed.

I am still not sure, it all depends on the manager and players being up for it.

I guess we will all know at the end of the season.
