Has Slav took his eye off the ball since we beat liverpoole i. The cup?

Submitted by Red Neck Iron on Sun, 08/05/2016 - 18:31

I think since we beat Liverpool in the cup Slav has been guilty of taking his eye off the ball. As good as he was before that game he has been as bad after it. Big mick a temp solution before that game is still at right back and with our worse defensive displays Slav still picks the same 4. Mick was terrorising teams in their attacking third not allowing opposition to get forward. So having him at right back effects us two fold! He also seems to have ditched players that could be doing a job for us, needlessly. We have a squad USE it ffs. Has he written off Collins, Tonka, byram, obiang and obrian this season? How can he justify this? I'm not saying sack him but boy is he making it harder for us. I'm baffled. IMO if he carrys on in the same vain we will finish 8th when it should at least be 5th. Both soton and poo look capable of winning the rest of their games but we do not. The only reason I can think of why he hasn't changed the right back situation is because he might want Antonio at right wing back next season and play 3 centre backs? He may never find himself in the position we were this season and he looks to have blown it for no sane reason I can see.

Come off it mate, we were 10 games unbeaten. Antonio orginally went right back cuz injuries and yes he needs to be back on the right wing next game but at the end of the day we were winning games with Antonio at right back and if not for refereeing decisions would have been more. Antonio playing right back is actually the reason we beat west brom. The swansea game was bad but apart from that Bilic hasnt gotten to much wrong apart from that game. Yes hes not a right back but the reason we were so exposed by it this week was because Moses is the laziest player ive seen in a west ham shirt, Kouyate has the positional sense of a porcupine and Reid is wank.

As far as I'm concerned the defence has looked ragged since Liverpool and been left to just get on with it. Surely you can agree with his lack of use of a squad since and his reluctance to use players that have and can better the team. Ok fact remains we got points but I don't feel we looked that comfortable since that game. Ok the practice match against brom was nothing more than that. I think points picked up have disguised a lot of things that need to be put right that haven't. To quote yourself Moses, Antonio at right back kouyate positioning and the centre of defence. All you seemed to have done is underline what I mean Fred. Who is it who can put these things right you moan about Fred? Bilic of course. Bilic did better with injuries for a lot of the season but has restricted himself since everyone became fit. I said a couple of weeks ago that altho the refs robbed us we needed to look at our own performance as a team rather than take the easy option.as far as I'm concerned that has come home to roost. For me bilic hasn't got the balance in midfield right, he plays Payet out wide to often when he is more dangerous thro the middle and defending as a unit is crap. Shape often falls apart. I'd say bilic this season has got 75 percent right and 25 per cent wrong.

Using Antonio as a wing back is a big ask for the guy as Bilic is trying to get the maximum from this player at both ends of the pitch. It proved the undoing of Jenkinson and now Antonio's shortcomings are being exposed when it comes to his positional sense in defending,I think Cresswell struggles at times too.Priority for me,for any player used as a wing back, will be the backs defending ability, and I think if Bilic had concentrated on that more Westham wouldn't have conceded so many goals this season, having said they probably wouldn't have scored as many either, that is the dilemma Bilic is having to contend with using the system he does. When you look at all the successful teams in this country, and in Europe ,they all have solid defences,an essential platform to build upon. What is the point of scoring loads of goals ,when you are leaking goals like a sieve, at the other end. That has got to be priority for Bilic in the summer ,get our defence sorted out, using a system that doesn't sacrifice it's strengths.Antonio's strength,is without doubt,in attack, thats where he should be used,it's counter-productive to use any player in a position where he is going to struggle to fulfil.

I think Bilic seems to be blinded a ittle. I find it hard to fathom why he hasn't used Collins, Tomkins or Byram of late. When Ginge was playing before his injury he was quite commanding at the back. Yes he is prone to make the odd mistake but his commitment was never in doubt and his understanding with others was good. Now we have a back four who have no teamwork. Not been helped by others not tracking back to help. Watching Noble track back for the last Swansea goal summed it up for me. Everyone was up in the goal area so there was no provision for any breakaway. Bilic has not addressed this for some time. I like attacking football as much as any one but there has to be a balance. Bilic must pick players suited to their positions who have game awareness. Our goal difference has plummeted. So disappointing.

Ginge was having his best ever season for us before he is injured. Slav should know by now that defence is a unit not 4 individual players. In other words the 2 best centre halves have to complement each other and work well and the full backs have to work in tandem with those. Plus there has to be cover from midfield when we are short. Why do our full backs need to bomb forward so much when you have such attacking players in midfield? Lanzini, Payet, Antonio and a quality winger tore? Why do we need full backs that's attack? ATM bilic worries me because if we don't get another good transfer window this season coming and Payet has a bad season it could be bottom half finish. Attack yes but suicide no! It will be a lot tougher to get points next season as everyone will throw money around. Sort out our defensive side bilic and quick.

We have a really good team, but we've been punching above our weight most of the season. On paper we are not as good as Liverpool, or possibly Southampton. (Hell, on paper we are not as good as Chelsea or Everton!) So give Bilic some credit. There are a couple of worries, though, and almost everybody here recognises them, so I hope the manager does, too. (1) Clean sheets: we haven't kept many since the Collins injury (the WBA masterclass aside), and the reasons include Antonio but also Winston Reid, who hasn't been anything like the player that was wanted by Liverpool and Arsenal last season. (2) Lack of variation in the side: Bilic has persisted with Moses and Emmenike when they are offering very little, and he has also sometimes failed to use AC to best advantage. The Swansea match was a case in point -- Moses was a passenger and AC had a poor match, so why not get Sakho and Val on at halftime when we were already down 2-0. And although we needed to attack Swansea when 2-0 down and consequently left ourselves open, the gift of a third goal was shameful and the fourth embarrassing. Slav was a defender, and so was Dicks -- they need to put some steel back into the spine. It would have been more boring to have Obiang, Collins and Byram start that last match and sit a little deeper, but we would have won 1-0 or 2-0. Let's hope that is a lesson learned!!!

3 points there ashes. 1 that's my worry for next season, that we are playing above our level which results in coming down with a big bump next season! Everything for me points to this. 2. Give bilic credit? Has he not had enough this season? I think we are blinded by his start to the season. 3. I have been hoping Slav would learn a lot of his lessons for weeks now, to no avail. How can he not learn from such obvious mistakes? It worries me he takes so long to learn if infact he does learn. He is supposed to be a top international manager! What has he been doing with our defence this season as they are getting more dis organised lately.

Have been questionable nearly all the way through the season but largely he has got away with it. Antonio has done a stirling job at RB but it is not his position. I accept that Byram was only going to be a squad player until next term, but Bilics refusal to use him, Joey or Tomkins in the RB position since Jenks went down is letting the rest of the team down. We all love the West Ham way but I think Bilic has gone too far down the line in trying to achieve that. Sending on four strikers ,thus cutting off any supply against Swansea was sheer suicide. Next season is going to be the litmus test for Bilic as he still hasn't got my vote as being the man for the job.

Have to agree with both dicksy and deluded comments above. I think it's shows a bit of foresight based on where the club want to be in the coming years. I don't think we will get away with what we have this season, next year. We have a good squad, manager but Slav so far is building the team on sandy ground rather than having good strong foundations ATM. I for one hopes he achieves good foundations next season but for me it's the number one job for him on the training field as well as buying players. Maybe the smelling rumour is true?

Billic has his faults but come on people we have come very close this season to qualifying for the champions league. Bilic deserves credit for getting us this far in his first season in charge. This has been an exciting season for us hammers fans and we have a manager who at last has us playing a better style of football and a record number of points in the premier league. I have confidence we can continue next season in the same vain and that Bilic is the right man to lead us.

I don't think anyone doesn't appreciate bilics efforts, and I'm sure we all want him to carry on. Just chewing over the fat over what probably needs to be done to establish a consistent too 5 place which is where Dave x 2 want us to be. Slav has had loads of credit tbh this season and that's fine. Just think next season will be the true reflection on if he is the right man. Years gone buy we would be happy with the change of football but the direction the club is going and where it's thinks it should be aiming for will change all that. Personally I'm frustrated that after getting so much right and getting us into those good positions silly decisions by him have derailed all his and the teams early work due to something that I feel could easily be corrected. If he could just opened his mind a bit more. Plus not getting European football will leave our transfer options restricted by fishing in a smaller less talented pool at a time when we are a good option to those better players.
