He doesn't get in that side anymore, let alone skipper it. When Song is back hes lucky to make the bench?
Could this be a Chicken Kev part II?

for that reason he should not have been made captain.

Bilic got it wrong today, his subs were poor and with half hour to go it was clear we needed 2 upfront and neither of them was Carroll. Noble should have been subbed instead of Lanzini who was playing well! Baffled at him taking a winger off and then putting obiang on instead made little sense to me, then when he brings Carroll on he moves sakho out wide! Carroll offered nothing and should not get a run unless we can offered to have him doing nothing in a game till he gets upto speed. Total waste of a sub today

Noble should have made way for Obiang and I think Jelavic could do well if paired with Sakho. It's gonna take a while to get back to full fitness, but clearly Slav does not set up for an AC type of player. Either go 451 with two wingers or play in a 442........we are great away at the moment, but we've gotta start winning more games at home......in the end we were very lucky to get the point yesterday.

To compare noble with chicken kev.Yes he had a poor game today, but nolan had 30/40 poor games as captain...just saying!

Its totally and utterly mindblowing what he is going to do when Song is fit and Obiang developes!!

Unless Bilic has the balls to drop him (and I sincerely hope he has) then we will be a man down every time he enters the fray!!!!

It'll be interesting to see what happens when he has a fully fit side, in my opinion he won't drop him and we'll see him start every league game for the same reason that some of the fellas posted on the previous Noble thread, he is seen to be a necessary part of the team

As you know chippy I stood up for noble and still stick to my point BUT part of my point was that with the strength of our squad no one even the captain should be gauranteed a start. Certainly feel he was very flat footed today along with some others and their goal was a schoolboy error and the second he looked flat footed for to. Bilic will have to start rotating the squad more. His subs were baffling totally disrupted and unbalanced our team whilst not even. Changing our formation. As soon as Carroll came on it was lump the long balls up to him, only this time he won nothing, while picking up a knock on his first tackle?

It's a strange one with Carroll, in the past when he's come back he's been a big influence in his first couple of outings, this time he's not really done anything, I think his time at West Ham is coming to an end because I don't think he suits the side. Regarding Noble I think in theory you're right, nobody should be gauranteed a start but that needed to be thought about when Bilic chose his captain, can't think of another side where the chosen captain doesn't start every game, but I hope you're right in saying that if he's not performing and we have better fit players then he'll get put on the bench

We seem to be self destructing at home for some reason, Noble giving them a helping hand yesterday, Cresswell and Jenkinson against Bournemouth, really stupid mistakes that you'd only expect to see once a season

Its actually a miracle every game if he doesnt do something that hugely jeopardizes your chance of winning the game be it horrendous passing in dangerous areas, stupid tackles on the edge of our box or indiscipline threatening to get him sent off every time he plays!!!!

I totally agree with you when you say "if the captain is fit he plays".

If not why are you picking him as Captain?

Surely the idea is that he will" lead from the front" in every game?!

Like a lot of things about Bilic (particularly how hes addressed our horrendous lack of quality width, how he signing attacking players, how he seems determined to buy younger players he can develope etc) but this is 1 decision I think he has got horribly wrong!!!

I'm old school as I'm over 50. In the olden days captain always played! Having said that the success of people like Man Utd and Chelsea is built on using your whole squad. It is baffling for mark to have been made captain under old school rules but I'm trying to buy into the squad scenario. That means captain of the club and not the team. It's about what goes on off the field too. If bilic doesn't use the squad system properly then he definately made a mistake with noble. As for captain being the first name on the sheet, isn't Terry still captain at chelski?

I'm much younger than you Red ( ahem) but you make a really valid point re " captain of club".

Although no fan of Noble in" the footballing sense" I can see what he could bring with work ethics, desire to success, what the club means and an ability to associate with fans.

That's a big part of any team and as Slav obviously knows The Hammers from his time here then kudos to him if this is this thinking.

Where the real test comes is if he is prepared to drop him to send out the message of " if you are playing well your in".

If its the case of Song/Kouyate/Obiang/ looking at each other and saying " well it doesn't matter how well we are playing 2 out of 3 of us won't be starting" then that could be an entirely different matter!!

Spurs think you explain it better than me. I'm just trying to get into billics head and understand why he chose noble. If I'm wrong then I don't have a clue why.

He will at the very least try to replace him at some point, and the best point would be when Song is available.
If nothing Noble is tired especially in his head, he could do with some time off and maybe old Slav can learn a trick or two.

I think Noble been hung out to dry slightly tbh. Don't think his pass was as bad as people have made out and I also think having him play 120 minutes on tuesday was silly by Bilic.

In nearly every match now he has played a ball across the pitch in front of the defence that has either led to a goal/chance for the opposition. He is becoming a liability and although can have good games is too inconsistent.

The way this team is progressing and developing is leaving players of Mark's standard behind....he is not skillful/technical enough for this developing team...a great club man but not good enough for the future.

Nobody else in our current team is captain material other than Noble so he got the captaincy by default. Reid? Too quiet to rally the troops good indivudal but when hes had the armband previously he's never shown anything to show hes a captain. Song? Not captain material in a million years and for someone whos lived in england aslong as he has his english is awful. Not saying Noble should start every game but hes had 1 bad game and hes getting slaughtered, and apparently shouldnt be captain. There isn't anyone else in the squad who is captain material.

he is also a pretty good penalty taker

We're going to have to hope Noble doesn't get injured then if we don't have another player capable of being captain in the squad, I would say Reid, Kouyate, Song and maybe Adrian would be candidates

Yeah, I think you really want all players to take some responsibility for leadership. If you can get that, than it doesn't really matter who wears the arm-band.
