Transfers this summer for me are just killing the game IMO and i mean money wise...in a world where all of us are struggling and worrying about how to make ends meet and some just managing a little better than others i have to say it makes me sick to the back teeth(still have those for now!)hearing the fees being mentioned...the latest one is Liverpool having a bid of £111million accepted by Brighton for Caicedo but the player saying no i only want to go to Chelsea(cue Elvis Costello)and now a reported bid of £115million winging its way to Brighton you just have to ask WTF people......i could not believe what the Gooners were willing to and have paid for Rice....Kanes off to Munich now Citeh have allegedly made an approach for Pacman of £70million but unless its close to £90million otherwise its a no go.....this used to be a working mans game but definetly no more.
It saddens me that a few clubs just think naaa F**k the academy and scouting nonsense we'll let the small fry do that and if they unearth a gem well we will take it off of them...no thought to there youth players coming through naaa thats just a battery farm to loan out or sell for silly money to smaller clubs who simply cannot afford "top Quality" and hey if the kid turns out to be better than we thought well F**k it we will just by them back at an exorbitant over inflated price.
Football is not what it once used to be but now the really silly money men have got involved with the monster that is the pemier league it has gotten worse....we used to laugh at the spanish Italian german and yes even scottish leagues because they were so predictable as to who would win it but not the prem oh no anyone can win it look at that anomaly Leicester theres the proof....that was brilliant but will never happen again the money men at the big clubs will not allow it.
Whatever money our club and clubs like us spend it is not to win the league its just spent to keep us in the bloody thing and god help us as we have already found out this summer that we have a player of any talent because they will go to the big boys as clubs like ours do not deserve such players.
Just seen your Thread Mac
Bloody hell, same page mate! It's ridiculous, but Brighton keep doing the business! Who ever is in charge of recruitment there is om a parr with Tony Carr!
Brighton&Brentford
Showing us up big time...no 60thousand plus fans no marquis signings just well run clubs from boardroom to the bench they are run better than us coached better than us and play better football than us....and if one of the bigboys want there players they make sure they get top dollar for the player but already have the replacement lined up to be signed.
Add Palace to those mate
We've all laughed at Woy,but this blokes enthusiasm for management is off the scale...he's tried & tested at the top level & still going in his 70s unreal!
English Football Sold its Soul
The clever minds behind the formation of the Premier League knew back then that there was £money to be made selling the product across the globe and have successfully created the most watched sporting entertainment product on the planet.
The obvious consequence has been to escalate the money in and out of the clubs involved.
This in turn has attracted the interest and finances of Oligarchs, Oil-rich sheikhs and American Investment Groups (Not to mention Porn Kings and Business investment lawyers!), who all see cash-flow and media coverage as good for business.
You can go down to your local non-league or Sunday football locations and watch a similar, if not as high product for free. Sadly, it doesn't quite have the same attraction.
Cmon Brentford, do us a favour today!!
Spot on Blimey
it all started with the formation of the Premier League and the obscene money that it brought with Pay for View. Not only did it totally transform English football with a seismic change in Players fortunes / power moves but in a matter of months it saw the rapid demise of other European leagues that couldnt compete such as Dutch, Belgium, Scottish etc once proud European clubs found they couldn't compete, thinking of Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV, Bruges, Anderlecht and at the risk your the roth... Celtic and Rangers.
Effing spot on Bud!!
Ajax Cruyff inspired...thank god we've got Alvarez he's going to be some player....jwp & him to start v Chelski...Will they f*ck!
I feel
It started to go downhill with the all seater stadiums,I know they had to because of trouble makers, they always spoil it for the majority...
And obviously the prem, though it is a fabulous league for the underdog,I think Brother Dartford said it many a time it's all about the young now & future generations & good for them I say,cos they know no different,I'll take my grandchildren eventually & I think this new idea of fan zones is brilliant,it could be the future, spectacles inside & out of Stratford, thank christ theyre hopefully doing something with the concrete jungle
demolishing it 65
?
Still feel your pain Brother!
Still feel your pain Brother! The Gennie is out of the bottle, there's no going back particularly in our case with UP. I do think that the concept of Fan Zone can be expanded. Could imagine them set up on game day in other parts of East London and key Hammer towns in Essex etc. Can bring back the old "feel" , having a beer, stood up and watching on a big screen. Half the price but having the same feeling of belonging. I think it would appeal to the original working class roots!
Exactly Dartford
My friend, that night at the O2 was off the scale, not only the achievement but the whole day! From about 3 in the afternoon couple of beers, then restaurant about 4 ish, other family rocked up,02 about 6ish then atmosphere build up to game unreal it's invigorated me mate & I'll be going for sure..10£ entry no brainer brother!
That was some night buddy
Wish I had been there!!!
What
Else is there Mac anymore?
think we have turned into a couple of
Moyesauruses 65 only no the old ways and harp back to em lol
you are right it is disgusting
On a non footballing front good friends of mine lost there home recently and have had to move back in with her parents as renting a place is just as bad had another friend who is losing sleep as to where she will find money to pay a rent increase that is beyond belief.
to much selfishness and not enough empathy towards decent hard working people who just want a home.
So unless its footballers in the lowest levels i have no time listening to them whinge about money.
Social rant over!
Sorry to hear that HG
It's a weird time, but has there ever been a time like this? Not in my lifetime & I'm an old git!!A global virus that wiped out hundreds of thousands,if not millions of people...any one of us could have lost loved ones..but our strength got us through it,then the greedy bastard powers that be decided to hit us all in the pocket...no wonder every one is walking around anxious, losing property, relationships suffering...but you know what we will get through this, especially us Hammers cos we are tough as old boots...hope your friends are OK HG they need good friends like you..COYI
Have to admit
It DOES slightly amuse me watching these sobbing people on the 6 O'clock news who are allegedly struggling to pay their bills with their packet of 20 fags in the background and the latest I-phone on the coffee table in the foreground.
in agreement there deluded
the ones with the big tv the latest phone the tablet and car on hp and fags and booze those people have no self control or restraint and life is just about having another kid for the benefit not for having a family and contributing to society.
But hard working always pay your bills like my friends it is a tragedy and soul destroying when no matter how hard you try keeping your head above water it fails through no thought of your own.Right getting off my soap box
Don't get me started
On that deluded but worse for me & I include lots of modern day footballers..cutting off dogs tails to make them look trendy...you absolute clints!! I'm Angry from Essex..;)
totally agree
