I did not like Bilics selection right from the start, he dropped Reid and Barnes WHY?were they injured, thought Byram would be on the bench and give Arbeloa a chance in the first half. Collins would also have been on the bench in his place Oxford glad he played Ogbonna, would have kept Reid. Thought Adriane had a good game After his performance at Watford impressed with Kouyate, Fegoulli and Antonio.Za za and Nordtveit were below average. I would start Ashley Fletcher and try Obiang, Bearing in mind Carrol could be on the bench. 2or seasons ago I remember Downes coming in as a defensive coach, What ever Slaven said it did not work we leaked another 4 goals after Mansuaku's horrendous hand ball we were chasing the game shame really thought he played well against Watford, BUT we panicked we were like rabbits in the headlights just like the Watford game so what did they learn- Nothing. Its ok saying It never rains but it pours if Slaven does'nt find his umbrella we could be out of it by November with some real big fixtures ahead, time to get a defender coaching , Arbeloa springs to mind. Time for Slaven to stop being Mr Nice Guy, and drop a few players we keep hearing what a big squad we have, and they are nearly all fit, Lets see some of them Wednesday should be a good night to try different formations because I think even Slaven does not know his best team but he has a few ideas here. Lets give him a few more

'Apparently' Byram and Reid were injured.

Bilic and Dicks were defenders. They know how to defend. Why should we need a defence coach?

Agree it was all rabbit in headlights stuff and the defending was absolutely atrocious. Once again though, unlike last season, the midfield never dropped back to support the defence. We never defended as a team.

Apart from Zaza, we were relatively good attacking and had chances in both halves.

I still stand by my words and say Zaza and Nordveit are not good enough and I pray Zaza doesn't play enough games for us to end up having to buy the rubber man

Norveit definitely isn't a right back but I thought at DM his array of passing and his ball retention is good and possibly would improve us in there because he won't wander.

Personally I thought his positional play was poor against Bournemouth. Pushed forward when he should've been deeper. Too deep when he should've been supporting the midfield and not good at seeing danger coming. He's supposed to protect the back 4 but Bournemouth were the 1st to cut through them. Maybe it's Slavs tactics because our midfield haven't supported/protected the back 4 in any game.

we need to have a back four in the correct position on the pitch to protect and on Saturday they were all over the place

I can't argue with that. Once that 1st went in so early, we were clearly shell shocked and West Brom smelt blood. We lost our heads and paid for it. Defend as a team rather than leave the back 4 to it and we'll see improvement

And there you have it jay, in one short sentence our only real problem that for me is easily sorted if bilic can only see it altho at the moment he hasn't. DEfend as a TEAM! A properly run team don't just let 4 players defend that's where the mistakes are made as the pressure on them is so immense. I'd put my pay packet on our defence not making so many mistakes if our midfield took more defensive responsibility. Makes me wonder if Slav is believing in his own hype. Snap our of it mate or both you and the team will suffer badly this season

I think he needs to get the team defending as a team as already stated. He knew last year 'as the story reminds us' he will be given a contract in January or end of season. He is contracted until 2018 as it stands....same as Simeone at Atletico Madrid

Billic and Dicks probably tried to rally the back defenders after the Watford game , Do you think it worked? only the score line was the same up at West Brom to me Billic looks like a manager who has enough on his plate, Yes a very good defender but a far better manager, dont get coaching and managership confused, I am not saying that Billic does not know what he is doing, he knows foot ball inside out, but this is his 1st big test something he has not been used to in the premiership and he knows something is not working. Dicks, Collins, Noble, and Arbelao all old experienced heads surely 1 or 2 of those players know the score and could help organise the defence you have good young players coming through in Oxford and Byron who could do with this experience. With Noble And Collins I would like to see a little more leadership. We had it last season wheres our fight and passion gone? Its so hard to put your finger on what is going wrong but if we dont get it sorted out and come away with no points against Southampton and Middlesbourgh I can see a relegation battle looming up. Nothing new there but look at the squad Payet, Lanzini Antonio etc 3rd from bottom dont make sense

I find that a bit worrying only a few games into a new season, don't know why but I think there's issues in the team/ management/ owners somewhere, I don't think we're getting the whole story, perhaps it's a fallout from the transfer window.
