MOYES - Pros and Cons

if it is to be Davy, would you be happy enough, or content at least? I see him as the cliched 'safe pair of hands' like many do. but is he good enough or does he have enough 'fresh ideas' to push the club beyond mid table? I believe he will definitely get us out of the current mess, getting enough points to get us away from the dreaded trap door which in itself I guess would be an achievement seeing how Watford are resurrecting themselves.

it worries me that he might be a dinosaur now, last time round he played 5-4-1 many times with arnautovic up front. was it effective? yeah I guess so, and he did 'create' a much better player out of arnautovic transforming him which is to his credit.

the positives I guess are that he knows how to set up a side particularly in defence. he brings balance to the side too which is something Pellegrini seemed unaware of. another positive in my view is that he is British, we've seen foreign managers come and go and tbh when things get tough, they just give up ala Bilic, Grant, Pellegrini still believing their pay is due each month.

would I be happy with Moyes? I don't really know anymore. who are the other 'possible' candidates? its the usual situation with the likes of howe, Dyche etc in better jobs at the moment than what we're offering. Emery/Silva are big no nos in my opinion, massive mistakes. pochettino? yeah sure but I don't think the guy would get out of bed even for the interview. Hughton? nice guy but is limited at best at this level. so then who? take a chance on another guy overseas somewhere? that would mean starting from scratch again, giving him time to settle and make mistakes etc...

ive come to the conclusion that Moyes is probably a decent choice. when it comes to experience, he has it in buckets. he is the 'old school' sort that doesn't take crap from players on or off the field, something we baaaadddly need. he gets the 'basic's right on the field too, so no more gaping holes in the defence, no more silly ball watching and to be fair he works damn hard on the training ground, something I've come to believe Bilic and pellegrini couldn't be bothered with.

so my assessment is if we end up with Moyes, then lets give the guy a real chance this time. he bailed us out last time and the thanks he got was that we 'wanted to go a different way, goodbye' - well look where that ended. give him a 3 year contract this time and back the guy in the transfer market.

if its not moyes then is this the time to be 'gambling' again? pulling up a championship manager? the guy at villa was lauded and rightly so and the sheff u manager - yes neither of those are possible but that's the level they are really, doing a 'dyche' bringing up clubs and taking them further than their resources. would they work with 'better tools'? I have my doubts.

Who else would want to come to a poorly run club with a rented ground disgruntled supporters who are regularly at loggerheads with the board and a bunch of overpaid underachieving players who think they are way better than they are and a board that likes to leak stories when it suits them.....Moyes could well say no if they only offer him short term deal again then what? bfs? pulis? because who else would seriously want the job

Thing is when Moyes is appointed. Which he will be. Will he be appointed on a permanent scale? Or until the end of the season?

I think this club needs stability and not constant uncertainty. Therefore give Moyes the job. Make it his club to build on. Lets see where we go. He's British, takes no nonsense and would make us resolute if not ultra exciting, notwithstanding bringing Psycho back has his assistant.

I say give him a chance permanently and lets move this club forward. Although be it slowly and steadily..

In my opinion, moyes wasnt given enough time, and would welcome him back. The whole appointment before was handled wrong, the pornos treated him terribly,he stabilised us,and felt we could of moved forward, but no the pornos thought pellegrini who is more expensive so must be better, well that has shown its not the case, and will cost a fortune to get rid, excellent business, with the team a point off relegation. The problem is the pornos, and has been for a long time,if moyes comes back,i say good on him,as who else would want to come and take on a team of miss fits,a stadium full of misery, and two blokes at the helm being guided by that mouth piece brady, who is employed just to line their pockets. We need to build a team from the manager to out on the pitch, not throw money at expensive charlies like anderson and hope it all works, bit it dosent, just look at wolves and sheffield, they have done it,we need a good clear out, starting from the top.......oh and another thing i left the ground early again yesterday, couldnt take it any more.

Is the only realistic option.for me no point in going for a "big name"...sully wants a manager that matches his ambitions & that is someone who can just keep us in the prem (ie the t.v money!!)...like mentioned elsewhere I'm pretty much past caring, the lifeblood has been sucked out of the club with this lot in charge

Thats it 65,realistic is the word and the only way to look at it.I think moyes will build a team given the chance.......Remember that old saying,The West Ham Way,ive forgot what way that was now,it must be left under the rubble at the Boleyn or fell out the removal van in Green Street, coming across to Stratford,it certainly didnt arrive did it.

Seen it all before, five times relegated 5 times promoted. Almost every seven years. I agree with some that discipline is almost always the problem and installing it needs a strong manager and a strong back up staff of serious coaches. We have been relegated before mainly because we have lost it big time and all confidence has gone. The players just not performing just expecting to lose like yesterday.
Dont like Moyes or Pearce as his main back up but that is what we are going to get if rumours are true and Moyes is being interviewed as I write. It will be very close as his win percentage is low and draws the more likely outcome as he tries to pull us away from the relegation zone. 45 points needed this time as Watford and Villa will also be trying hard to get up the table. Big game v Bournemouth on Wednesday as well, lose that and it will be even harder to avoid the drop.
Ah well! seen it all before but I will still renew my season ticket as I believe one day we will get there.

The fact that Moyes was seen to have the potential to succeed the most successful manager in PL history. The problem for anyone taking that job after Fergie was that it would be an impossible task to replicate or get anywhere near his achievements. I think we should give him more respect and see what he achieves with the players over the coming weeks/months, before dismissing someone that could potentially be a very decent appointment.

Nice to see you back colin,no manager could fill fungus shoes at manure, that's an art of his own with his bullying reputation and influence over referees, year after year after year ;)
as for moyes in his toffos days we could only dream of having such a solid manager.

Life moves on and you have to try and keep with it, but it doesn’t stop you having difficult moments jogged by lots of different memories. My wife has found a purpose by working in a decent restaurant, and I’m helping Ollie a couple of nights a week delivering Chinese takeaways so that he fills his time and earns some money. I made a decision in November to take the refereeing course and passed a few weeks ago, and being on the other side has been enlightening..... I find myself analysing decisions a lot more on TV and boring my wife more than I ever thought possible lol
