It's my opinion that since the new balance in the team mark noble has been rejuvenated. Here are my thoughts. I recently have questioned his speed and therefore his inclusion. Noble has no doubt be criticised probably more than most over the last couple of seasons but have we got it so wrong! Earlier in the season I said it's either wilshere OR noble NOT both due to speed, they were both too slow. Anyway getting to my point has noble only been guilty of the boy with his finger in the dam trying to plug too many leaks? Have you ever played in a team that a lot of players are either not that good or not putting 100per cent in? I have. If you are committed to the game/club (which noble is) you get drawn into doing other players work load you cover areas bigger than is possible, you get caught in areas you shouldn't be and become more tired, frustrated and look a far worse player as a result. Now we have better players all seemed to be doing their job covering defensively and going forward. noble has been allowed to play more HIS way and more his natural game. Ditto could be said about our defence. We all knew we needed at least 1 defensive midfielder but now we effectively have 2 playing. Taking nothing away from diop or balbeuna but things are a lot easier if they got proper protection which they are now getting. In the last couple of games we haven't panicked or been pulled wildly out of shape I think it all stems from our new 3 some in midfield. Thank the Lord for wilsheres injury as it now allows us to split the midfield up. And may as a result have triggered the noble effect.
I was thinking the exact same
I was thinking the exact same thing earlier Red. As I said in more words on the Fabianski post, when all the cogs are working players are able to do what they’re capable of. We saw the same Noble when Payet was in town and when there is quality around Noble delivers more. He’s had to play with some dross over the years but no one has ever been able question his commitment. I’ve said quite a few negative comments about him since the start of the season but yesterday he was well deserving MOTM
Said much the same thing about noble myself
To old/legs gone etc but yesterday he put in a masterclass and showed just how good a midfielder and leader he can be...and as you say with others around him doing there jobs he does look a lot fresher and not like a dog chasing a balloon and consequently knackering himself out week in week out.
Dog chasing a balloon, I like
Dog chasing a balloon, I like that.
All good posts!
Noble is doing what he does best, galvanises the team....hes not called Mr Westham for nothing & i take my hat off to him!!
Always loved the expression
Always loved the expression in football " like a dog chasing a balloon" just edges "can't trap a bag of cement" ha ha.
yeah it reminds me
of an old footy manager game going way back before they got all technical...send a scout to look at player and get a report and rmbr to this day it went "he's not slow the boy can put the ball on a sixpence he's good very good" lol got that player in every time I saw that!....I think felipe can put the ball on a sixpence!
Football cliches!!Dont ya just love em!!
Cant trap a bag of cement is a classic!! Also a variation on macs - "He could turn on a sixpence"
I always liked "He couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo!!" or one Dave Bassett always used to say "Theyve set their stall out early doors!!" lol - whats that all about!!
Cows arse with a banjo, yep
Cows arse with a banjo, yep that is the third of the 3 classics always get me chuckling
