In the words of the one and only Mr Ian Dury. Although I much prefer "into the kitchen Mother, the kettles got a hard on, you cant call that dripping it hasn't got no lard on".
Ask yer Grandad kids, anyway I digress.
With 9 games to go and nothing to speak of to play for. I've no doubt that Potter will be experimenting to a certain extent. He's sured up the defence and they all look like a proper unit at last. Todibo if we can get 90 mins out of him, Is the perfect partner for Kilman. Scarles and AWB are excellent wing backs. Although not his best game, Creswell is slotting in nicely at LCB. Although I do expect another upgrade of Potters choosing will come in the window.
Bowen and JWP apart. I think the rest are all auditioning so to speak. I expect Guilhereme to start being included more. As Potter will want to see him before the window opens. In case there is a star in there somewhere. Orford will get more minutes in midfield. He won't be going anywhere and Freddie Potts will return.
Potter is playing the long game. But not gambling or being reckless in his formation choices. I'm certain he has probably already got a good idea of who he wants around. More importantly those he does not.
I'm not getting down on Ferguson or Fulkrug. Potter will know if he wants either or none to stick around for the new season. I suspect we will see new faces. As Potter at last gets the chance to build his squad in his minds eye.
Then we can judge him. As for digging players out now it's pointless and achieves nothing. Its a new era for us and thankfully we are in safe hands it seems...
Yeah, Curbishley was safe hands as well
and Im not expecting anything more from Potter. Just seen an interview where he is patting himself on the back that we have now stopped shipping in goals but conveniently omitting to add we ain't bloody scoring many now either.
We all have our opinions on players, I'm no different. I'd get rid of Areola and Foderingham and splurge out on a top notch keeper for starters. Fabs can stay on for another year as he is more than a competent squad keeper. There's a few olduns that need to be moved on obviously and we could all argue the merits of keeping or releasing the likes of Soucek, Alvarez, Soler, Coufal, Fullkrug et all who in my opinion would all be good squad players at least if not to be first choice although I'm alarmed at Potters interest in Ferguson. Summer will be the time to see where we are going but I'm not expecting anything exciting to occur.
One big talent
Is summer ville. Potter used him to great effect in first game, sadly injured since. I think he'll be better than kudus who blows hot n cold too frequently.
I agree, I hear he could be
I agree, I hear he could be out for the season though. Potter, likes him, a starter when fit, for sure.
I feel sorry for Kudus
Because his favoured place is where Bowen is right now and it's not Bowen who is being shunted about in different positions because we don't have anyone to fill the left sided slot.
The only real positives from this miserable season for me has been the Wan Bissaka signing but most of all, how good is Scarles looking eh? Wonder how much we'll get for him?
I think we are dreaming
Who in honesty would want to join West Ham at the moment?
We are breaking all the negative statistics in terms of shots on goal, chances created etc etc you have all seen the numbers. Attracting top players in the summer will be impossible.
Potter pats his own back for reducing goals against, well playing 5 across the back is hardly rocket science, some times we have 6 with Alverez playing so deep and surrendering the midfield. He praised JWP for his work rate... god help us!
We need a midfield general that owns the park, sets the tempo... Oh for a Decan Rice, Mark Noble or Kevin Nolan
we do have
George Earthy and Potts to come back in the summer & that at least is something i will look forward to seeing also summerville coming back from his injury all 3 worthy of a starting place i feel
Only if they get picked Elt
And the evidence is not great. Luis Guilherme?????????????
I’m not convinced with Potter
I’m not convinced with Potter, not sure he was the right choice and I’m not sure they’ll trust him enough to spend money in the summer either, he’s already making noises about looking at the youth players first, I’m not sure his 2 year contract will be long enough to see any progression or to keep his job, the club has gone backwards by about 3 or 4 seasons
