Rumours of new buyers

There are rumours going around of a new buyer, or of HUGE game-changing investment being made at West Ham soon. Now we've likely all heard this talk before, but it seems to have a little more credibility this time. With the move to the OS and the club having acquired the services of perhaps the most intelligent and likeable young manager out there, a guy who just might have what it takes to become THE next big thing in the manager stakes, it just might make sense for the next BIG investor to come in to the PL, and who looks a better prospect than us? Anyone heard anything?

I've not heard anything about West Ham, but I would think we would be an expensive option for potential investors, would've thought the investors would've been more interested at our lowest point when Sugo took over, im guessing the club would have an expensive purchase price now? Saying that I have heard there's an Arabian trying to buy Liverpool so perhaps there is interest, I would also think that Bilic wouldn't be the choice of manager for a big investor with grand ideas, in the same way that City got through managers very quickly early on, he's right for us at the moment

Who knows how the minds of billionaires work?

Part of the rumour is that 'from somewhere' the cash will be found in January to make 3 or 4 top signings. Now 'IF' true that money sure as Hell won't be coming from SUGO, but rather from the 'secret investors' who are going to make as sure as possible that we are PL club for the big move, and next summer is when the REALLY big things will happen. So if in january we sign nobody (or nobody that costs much anyway) than this might all be complete fantasy! We shall see... :-)

Just out of interest, if money was available for 3 or 4 top signings in January who would you replace, I guess we'd buy a striker because that always seems to be a position that clubs improve, I'd buy 2 decent full backs as well, proper full backs that could defend

Slav appears to want Gokhan Tore, so he would be one. After that, yes a right back (maybe 2!) another defensive mid, and...........

But who would they be?

Seems to be getting more and more difficult to find.

They all seem to think they are auxiliary wingers these days.

Strange how the art of defending seems to have died.

About 90% of goals scored today come from absolutely hideous defending.

Yeah you're right, there seem to be very few fullbacks that are better at defending than going forward, I suppose it's how the game has changed, having wingers is old school I guess, a lot of teams seem to play diamond midfield positions with a tighter midfield unit, as for who I have no idea, can't think of anybody in the Premiership at the moment though, at the moment I'd sooner see Tomkins start there

2 of my all time favourites were Gary Stevens who I saw a lot of in Scotland who had an incredible engine to get forward BUT HIS MAIN STRENGTH was his defending.

Ditto Gary Neville.

Horrible twat .Wonderful defender.

Maybe we should just look for fullbacks called Gary.

Hideous defending? Ur not wrong there Spurs and that's at the top clubs too! Maybe that's why they struggle in Europe. I so often see a lack of basic defending, doing things we wouldn't expect to do on a Sunday morning!

Red ive lost count of the number of goals I've seen this season where someone just wanders in front of goals and has a totally free shot or header!!

Heard the classic the other day of " its zonal marking"!!

WHAT?!!!!!

I've been around the football scene for over 40 years and at no time can I ever recall " a zone" threatening to score a goal?!!

Jesus its not rocket science.

Set pieces man on man.

Centre half picks up their CF ( assuming he's big and good in the air) and your CF comes back and marks their CH( again assuming your CF is big and good in the air).

And here's " the real kicker".

PUT 2 of your smaller (not so good headerers) on the posts BECASE LOGICALLY YOU WONT WIN EVERY CHALLENGE!!

Yes you do need to allow a couple of their players a wee bit of free space usually outside the box but in my humble its worth it.

I was always told its players that score goals! Sod zonal marking can't see why it's used! Also can't see why players are given so much space 20 yards out as most attackers can score from those positions! Also why the midfield as a whole seems to dissolve themselves of helping out the defenders! Midfielders in my day had a duty to the defence as much as the attack. The space isn't closed down very well in general anymore. The team should look to become more compact whilst not in percession narrow the play shifting from one side of the pitch to another keeping the space more compact not allowing un pressured ball.

Hope its true.

These 2 miserable old sods have presided over us for far too long.

Time to spend some serious money.

There's a West Ham insider who posts on KUMB, he's usually pretty reliable. But have heard whispers from other people. Of course, even if there is truth in it, it might not work out...

I remember reading a couple of months back that SUGO were looking to sell a portion of the club or putting the feelers out for some investment. Maybe it's coming to fruition, who knows, but from what I've read since the end of last season SUGO have no intention of selling the club at this time and to do so would mean a greater share of any profit would be heading back to the LLDC.

Some people think it might be the Qatar Investment Authority. Total assets approximately US$200 billion, as they already have a sizeable investment in Stratford. It might equally be all hot air or not come to fruition.
