Time To Get Rid Of The Sentimental Choice Mark Noble .

It is time to get real ,it is time to get rid of the sentimental choice ,Mark Noble .As soon as I saw the midfield pairing of Noble and Snodgrass ,I knew that we had lost .Yes ,Anderson, Yarmelenko, Lanzini and most of the team were poor .But with the likes of Noble and Snodgrass behind them, they were dead men walking, dead men walking .Part of me thinks, Moyes set the team out to fail. Sending a desperate message to The Cons .For F**** sake I need signings !

Much has been said about the need for defensive signings ,which we do need. We also need another striker .But believe you me we MASSIVELY need at the very least another C/M .When we have , Souceck partnered with Rice ,we are able to hold our own. But if either or God forbid both can't play, we are in desperate trouble. One of the biggest problems, is the presence of Mark Noble in the team. At his best he was mediocre ,people point to 2016 and say he 'deserved' a England call up. The harsh reality is this :Noble, like many in the squad during the 2016 season were carried by the genius which was Dimitri Payet .

It make me laugh when people argue the toss with me regards Noble. When I ask them why should Noble play ,the answers are not football related ."He is one of us, he bleeds for the shirt ,he loves the Club "No doubt they are all true. But if that is the criteria used ,then we should all play for West Ham !Another bit of sentimental jargon used is "He is a leader "No he is not. He is a headless chicken who loses control ! Ask Angelo Ogbonna !When the pressure is on ,the Canning Town one loses it .Team wise it's like playing with ten men .He slows the team down with slow ,laboured passes ,sideways ,backwards ,anywhere but forward .When the opposition close him down quickly ,the outcome is always the same.

He either gets dispossessed, and the opposition has a free run at goal. Or he passes straight to the opposition, gives away a free kick in a dangerous position , shuffles the ball back to an under pressure defence . Leaving the defence ,little choice but to hoof the ball clear .As a goal threat Noble offers nothing ,rarely venturing forward .When we do venture forward ,the opposition know he is the weak link .They stand and wait for him ,nip the ball off him and have a free run at our goal. You might as well wave the white flag of surrender and say to the opposition: "Off you go !Have a free run at our goal !Even the best defences look poor if they have no protection in front of them !

Attacking wise ,our strikers have had to drop deeper and deeper to receive the ball. Because they were getting no service from the midfield .How can any striker hurt the opposition, when they are receiving no service? It is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE !You need your strikers on the front foot !With defenders retreating, giving them the space to hurt the opposition. You either have pacey and skillful wingers, who can go round the opposition fullbacks. Or you have skillful, inventive midfielders, who can carry the ball forward . Causing the opposition defenders to retreat ,as a result gaps open up giving the strikers the space to exploit and hurt the opposition.

In game after game, the possession stats are something like 63%-37% to the opposition .Stats that illustrate how poor we are when in possession. Yes ,It is not down to Mark Noble alone ,but he is huge part of the problem. Some see him as a legend which is fair enough .I don't. As his loyalty has never been tested ,as no other Premier League manager has wanted him. But I DO respect, that he has donned the Claret and Blue in over 500 matches .And deserves to leave with dignity. Perhaps working at The Academy or even as a Director of football .West Ham have simply got to address their midfield woes ,do that and we can still have a decent season. To do that ,David Moyes is going to have to take Mark Noble to one side, and gently tell him his days as a first team starter are over. It happens to all players not just to Mark Noble, picking Noble based on sentimentality is going to hurt West Ham .We are more than a football Club,we're a way of life !COYI!!1

It is utter madness playing him !But we must get another midfielder in Dicksie !

I have said as much especially after the wolves victory....first eleven all graft and some style but any kind of injuries and i like you highlighted the midfield we are in trouble and last night showed that...i like Snodgrass and Yarma and Noble but they have to be on the bench not starting for sure and until the board allow moyes to bring in reinforcements we have to keep our fingers crossed we do not have any more injuries to key personnel

Mcbikerman, ,They have to give Moyes money to strengthen, especially the midfield. Not to do so is relegation suicide .

Coaching the U18's would be a good way to start in management.

With reluctance Fareham I agree. At the Prem level there is no place for Marky. I thought we were down last season and Mark at the championship level would have been perfect to inspire a return, a bit like Chicken did for us. Snods I thought was ok, bit off the pace but for me spotlight was firmly shining in the negative sense on Lanz, Anderson and Yarmo. The number of poor passes and lost possession at this level can not be tolerated. Haller was ineffectual but in truth had zero service.

Dartford ,Trust me if we have to rely on the likes of Noble ,Wilshere and Snodgrass in midfield ,we are a lost cause .

Ironically the enforced break where all the other players in the first team squad currently playing got fit, Mark just seemed to stand still, his only appearances in his last games showed the gulf in his speed, it is as if his 'adrenalin' finally quit and now he is exposed as an ageing player not able to deal with the travails and hustle and bustle that is the premier League, speed and more speed is the life blood required and sadly Marky, great servant that he has been, is becoming exactly that, a has been, sad but true, I should know, I am one!

Sad as it may be but having Noble in the team ,Is like playing with ten men.

Agree. It's been evident for some time he doesn't ave the legs for the long Prem season. Shame as I loved his passion on the field but we definately need to replace him and move on.
Unfortunately the cons aren't helping the situation so what's a manager to do?

They are going to have to bring another midfielder in. Failing to do so ,they are going to have to try Conor Coventry .Playing Noble is a relegation death wish.

At least until the seasons end, while I fully agree he has lost the pace and energy he still has enough about him to play out the final 15/20 mins of games where we can see out a result. Maybe a few games on the bench will fire him up and yes I believe he should be given a chance to coach (if he wants to) and I would even go as far as to say help with the under 21/23s squads. I think his influence would be a positive one. Though the EFL cup is easily dismissed I would have loved to see us make the final and give Nobes a run out in the latter stages because with so many mercenaries around in the game he deserves at least that!

Plaistow I'm afraid I disagree with you !Noble's time is up !

Have to agree Brother Fareham! Gutted we missed Berkley. Think Loftus-Cheek on loan is a no brainer.

Brother Enfield ,believe you me we must bring in another CM.If either Souceck or Rice get injured we are royally fucked !I like Loftus Creek as well !

The thought of no Noble involvement is unthinkable. I mean, who would of thunk it? Hold that thought prophets...

Noble has been a loyal servant to the club, and we have to give him credit for that. But I think that he has reached the Use By Date, and needs to be recruited in the staff as a coach of sorts.

Mark has been and in my mind still is Mr west ham but like in life you slow up and injuries take longer to heal as you get older as has been suggested the last 15-20 minutes to see out a game would suit him perfectly although i would expect him to disagree with that .But i for one would not like to be the one to have to tell him i wouldn't have the heart to do it

Let us hope Mark retires with the dignity he deserves, he more than anyone else knows exactly what he has got left in the tank, and he is most definitely on reserve.

Unfortunately we all get older and Mark is reaching the end of his playing career. He has been one of the greats giving 100% every game and showing his passion and love for the club.He can only manage 15 to 20 minutes at Premier League level but will be a great addition to the coaching staff and could help bringing on some of our younger players. Its probably time for Connor Coventry to join the first team squad.

I would have got rid of him 4 years ago and he has in many ways proved me wrong but he has done all he can do he has i think had a fantastic career captaining his beloved Hammers for several years.
But enough, West ham must move on and he must too.

I was derided last couple of seasons for stating that Noble was really slowing things down. I preferred Kouyate in that role. Most of you were saying that Kouyate should be offloaded and he was to Crystal Palace. He is admired at Palace for the shifts, energy and pace that he displays and has even played as a Centre Back. Injuries, yes, but we see that with Noble as well. The only time I saw Noble put in a great shift was that home game against an injury ridden Bournemouth last season. He was the MOM but that was against a Championship team as they had over half a dozen injuries and a not so deep squad.

..."last couple of seasons" IMO, In recent seasons he was still an important part of the set up but now, things have definitely changed and his time is up.

By the way... I do hope I wasn't one in the past who derided you! :o)
