Top of the alternative league

I've just seen an alternative league table with us at the top, only problem is it's for the amount of long balls played, we lead with 174 followed by Watford on 171 and Sunderland on 149, our opponents at the weekend Man City have played 75, bottom of the league, no great surprise, is Arsenal at 65, strange how I don't get that feeling that we're lumping it long all the time as I did under Sam Allardyce

Yeah I agree, stats are for managers and the media to use when it suits their argument, I'm just surprised to see us top, I thought we'd played a much more varied system, just goes to show doesn't it

I'm surprised to see that too. From what I've seen we have tried to play it out from the back more. I guess there are long balls (hit and hope), and then there are long balls (good accurate passes). As long as we aren't doing too many of the former, where the possession is immediately lost and the opposition come right back at us, I'm not too bothered.

I agree bully it depends how they see a long ball ,surly the point of breaking is long passes out of defence to the players in and around the half way line and should be classed as an accurate pass
