january coming round and its clear we will be buying but why are the board so obsessed with big name/marquis players? why not do better research on players instead of oh yeah heard of him he must be good lets buy!! sturridge and now mandzukic have been linked with moves...the latter is 30 never played in this league why would he be a success? the former is selfish and when injured its never short term err been there doing that right now..
so why buy names? is it because they fear as fans we would not go if we have never heard of the player?...yes sometimes it is nice to be linked to players with high profiles but come on Antonio is proof that you can unearth real gems for little outlay and now his profile is as high as most in the prem....so stop scouring the foreign market to death lets have a look closer to home and whilst you do have to pay more surely its better than laying out big bucks for lame ducks.....

Sorry but 79 games in three season for Liverpool averaging 26 games is nowhere near Andy Carroll's injury record. Couple that together with 57 goals out of those 79 games, we'd be mad not to take him. If we want injury free strikers, buy Zaza, he's always available. We need goals badly from our strikers end of. Assambolumo (don't know his name) who you keep banging on about, is an experiment, the same as Antonio was. Remember he didn't go straight into the team, he did after a while prove to be worthwhile. Have we go the time to risk finding out on a non-proven striker? Give me an England International with 8 goals in 25 appearnaces BTW any day. I just can't believe some of the stuff I read on here sometimes. F*** me Sturridge, Payet and Lanzini playing as a front three, just imagine. Get Fabregas too alongside, Obiang/Noble and Cresswell and Antonio out wide. What a team that would be?

this season 15 games 6 goals so far. But you're right it's not up to us!! I just think sometimes we get a bit carried away with labelling players a certain something. If Carroll comeback and stays fit for the rest of the season, we'll soon forget about the injuries. I believe that the only saving grace with Carroll is that his injuries don't seem to be in the same place, if that is a consolation?

Good points about Sturridges goals and injury records, but the hesitation is there as it seems like these kinds of players who may have been known for injuries in the past, however problematic seem to worsen when they join us... what might be a niggling toe injury before they join us all of a sudden turns to full leg amputation after a few games with us. Is it the physio team or clubs medical? I dont know... I suspect its our reliance on them to play every game and perform (as they should after all) whereas other clubs can have the freedom of rotation... thats what we should have had this season but Callieri and Zaza are crap. who knows if Sakho starts playing for us regularly and we get Assombalonga or a similar player then maybe Sturridge would be worth getting - but his injury record should definitely be taken into account when negotiating a price

I'm on the fence about sturridge for the same reasons as most of you. Great goal scorer but always in the sick room ffs.

I do find it funny how people are saying Calleri is crap though when all we really seen him do is miss 1 sitter. The kid hasn't had a chance but yet Zaza has had loads of games
