Looks like our turn for a run of injuries unfortunately a shameful not fully punished tackle on Payet. Hopefully Sakho will return soon otherwise not sure who is going to score the goals apart from Lanzini.
Tbh Ed i think we've had more than our fair share of injuries over the last few seasons, and our major players always on the receiving end. I was thinking it ws our turn to show what a great club we are without suffering this shit again. The ref was piss weak in this game and allowed Everton to play a very dirty brand of football, something I didn't think Martinez teams played. There should be retrospective punishment for these sort of tackles when players are lucky careers aren't ended. I hope he's back soon, but knowing our effing luck we'll lose two or three more over the next few weeks to really put the screws on!
but we have to get on with it and while we don't have an exact replacement for payet lets face it who does lets not go overboard and knock the confidence of whoever is picked to replace him in the team....Lanzini will now come under closer scrutiny but with song due back obiang waiting for his chance even Antonio I feel we are covered well in this area of the park its upfront where we need to greatly improve and hopefully sakho will be back for the spuds game and he has clearly been missed...Slav has 2 weeks to work out who he wants and how we will play without payet I am looking forward to see how we cope.....onwards and upwards boys COYI
This is by no means a slight on Payet, but we miss sakho more than I think we will miss Payet. We have decent cover for Payet with creativity, but we don't have cover for a mobile striker with good movement and work rate. So I believe sakho takes more away from our style of play that Payet. We may lose a bit going forward but as a result we may gain a bit more solidity if bilic picks certain players
True Blackpool. We don't have anyone who could do that job but even if we had the referees would give him the red card as soon as he gives one back. That's how it works. If the likes of Collins tackle recklessly from behind they get sent off straight away. If the same tackle is made by a player from a so called fashionable club than it's a perfect yellow. The referees should do better at protecting players from such nasty tackles. Still it's a physical sport and you can't escape from similar situations.
The problem with that is even if we did have that type of player, the refs are mostly so card happy he'd either be booked or sent off. Bonds used to get away with multipe hard tackles during a game because it was part and parcel. Now there are so many fairies playing and ref's wanting to be the centre of attention that the inevitable happens. I mean seriously how was Collins tackle a red card and McCarthy's not.
IMO the refereeing should be done from the commentary box and the info fed to the man on the pitch to administer the punishment. Takes the responsibility away from the blind referee.

For him from now on. Trev and Dev use to get it but they had Billy beside them I can't think of anybody in the side that could that job for us now .
